  Hamas has become the hope of the Arab and Islamic Nations. Israel is asking for a full scale war but Hamas will never be crushed and the reason is very simple. Hamas only insists on constants and rights and refuses to grant concessions in addition to its insistence on resistance, the MP underscored.

  Since Japan travels 10,000 kilometers that is too much. How many kilometers should be the limit then? Portugese fishermen fish in the Indian Ocean is that also too far away from their coastal waters? How about Norwegian whaling fleet which travles 5,000 kilometers?

  Ok, stener, we are on two different pages. I'm talking about Jews and for Jews to have a homeland. now, if we are going to differentiate Israel and Jews

  I do not understand what you are trying to say as you are jumping from one topic to an another.You will need to elaborate. I have proved you wrong in every post that you have written and instead of acknowledging that you have been wrong, you change topics.

  Israel was created by terrorising the vast bulk of the indegenous people of Palestine and Israel attacked it's Arab neighbours and occupied the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza in 1967.

  Every nation in the UN has voted and agreed that israel retreats back to 1967 borders and any land which was taken in the 67 war which was started by Israel to be returned back to the Palestinians. But Israel does not want to give back what the entire world including US is demanding. So what was it that you say about Jews needing a home land? Why is it that US demands on paper that Israel retreat to 67 borders yet support Israeli apartheid? Is it the nature of American to be lying hypocrites Skipthesong?

  Jews can have their home land in Israel according to 1967 borders. As long as Israel does not retreat to 1967 borders and keep Gaza, West Bank under occupation. Israel is ignoring international law and Israel becomes a racist apartheid state. Israel can have their state without being a racist apartheid state.

  davidattokyo, obviously so, but this is why so many are having a go at the Japanese whalers far more than Norway and Iceland. I don't really mind the Japanese whaling, but believe they should stick to their own coastal waters if the rest of the world views this as so offensive.

  Sometime there is going to be a real tragedy. It is possible that at some stage a missile is going to be illegally purchased and fired at a whaling vessel.

  Norwegian and Icelanders hunt in international waters just like Japan. Japan is adhering to the principles of Agenda 21 and teh Rio declaration. Any country in the world have a right to harvest from international waters. Including Japan.

  Australians do not have an argument. Apart from their whiny xenophibia which does not really belong in an international intellectual debate as no country in the world recognize Souithern Pacific Ocean as Australian. Australians reminds me of Russians. A time back Russians planted a Russian flag on the north pole. Their actions were ridiculed by the international community. Australians could do themselves a favour and stop claiming international waters as theirs if they want to be taken seriously by the international community. Why not also claim Jupiter and Pluto too. Kevin Rudd?

  Sea Shepherd is a racist white supremacy imperialistic orgtanization who'se main objective is not to save whales but to stop Japan hunting an non endangered whale speicies in international waters. Most anti whaling fanatics are completely ignorant about whale spices which are truly endangered proving my point that anti whalers are not driven by the love of whales but the hate of whalers making them racist simpletons.

  Stener, the key word in your argument is "could". So, as much as you may distrust Israel, why should Israel trust Hamas?

  Israel does not have to trust Hamas. And Hamas does ot have to trust Israel. All Israel needs to do is to retreat back to the 1967 borders. The UN security counsil unanomusly adopted this resolution. USA too voted in favour of an Israeli retreat to 1967 borders therefore when US supports Israel they are actually going against their own agreement which they voted in the UN.

  Yes.

  Hamas has said. we now say that if Israel withdraws to the 1967 borders there could be peace and security in the region and agreements between the sides until the international community finds a way to solve everybody's problems and to find a way to give back the rights to the people, to end the oppression of those who used to live on their land and were forced out of it.

  In many regards, the trade in narcotics as well as the drug routes to the European and North American markets are considered to be "strategic". There are powerful financial interests behind the drug trade, which have a pervasive influence, behind the scenes, on the conduct of US foreign policy.

  These multibillion dollar revenues of narcotics were deposited in the Western banking system. Most of the large international banks -together with their affiliates in the offshore banking havens-laundered large amounts of narco-dollars. In other words, Afghanistan, the poorest country on earth, was the source of tremendous financial wealth derived from the drug trade to financial institutions, business syndicates and organised crime. Part of the drug related revenues accrue to the CIA, which continues to protect both the Asian and Latin American drug trade. Visibly, only a very small percentage of these revenues stays in Afghanistan. .

  Following the year 2000 ban on poppy production imposed by the Taliban government, opium production collapsed by more than 90 percent, leading to a dwindling drug trade and substantial losses to the inters underlying this multibillion dollar trade including Western financial institutions.3 The Northern Alliance became the main political force involved in protecting the production and marketing of raw opium.

  The Drug Trade Restored by the US Puppet Regime While oil and oil pipelines out of the Caspian sea basin were undoubtedly a factor, the bombing of Afghanistan also served to restore the multibillion drug trade, which is protected by the CIA.

  Immediately following the installation of the US puppet government under Prime Minister Hamid Kharzai, opium production soared, regaining its historic levels. According to the UNDCP, opium cultivation increased by 657 % in 2002 (in relation to its 2001 level). In 2001, opium cultivation had fallen to an estimated 7606ha.(See table below). It is currently estimated by the UNDCP to be of the order of 45 000 -65 000ha.

  In the immediate wake of September 11, the price of opium in Afghanistan increased three-fold. By early 2002, the price (dollar/kg) was almost ten times higher than in the year 2000.4.Centre for Research on Globalisation (CRG)

  I think Nelson Mandeal had a good quote on this conflict which the most ignorant people should also be able to grasp.

  *The Palestinian-Israeli conflict is not just an issue of military occupation and Israel is not a country that was established "normally" and happened to occupy another country in 1967. Palestinians are not struggling for a "state" but for freedom, liberation and equality, just like we were struggling for freedom in South Africa.

  As to the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, there is an additional factor. The so-called "Palestinian autonomous areas" are bantustans. These are restricted entities within the power structure of the Israeli apartheid system.

  Apartheid is a crime against humanity. Israel has deprived millions of Palestinians of their liberty and property. It has perpetuated a system of gross racial discrimination and inequality. It has systematically incarcerated and tortured thousands of Palestinians, contrary to the rules of international law. It has, in particular, waged a war against a civilian population, in particular children.*

  My conclusion is the same as Nelson Mandela and not the same as the apartheid apoligists like many posters here seem to be. People who see this as a cycle of violence is missing out on the bigger picture. This is about a people who have been systematically dispossed from their lands and who are denied the right for self determination and freedom. USA is the biggest supporter of Israeli apartheid. This is not suprising knowing that US was one of the latest countries in the world to condemn apartheid in South Africa.

  Why, what would you do?

  Give freedom to the Palestinians and let go of the criminal siege of Gaza and stop ethnic cleansing more Palestinian land in West Bank and East Jerusalem. Create a viable Palestinain state side by side with Israel with East Jerusalem as capital. Every country in the world agrees to this so I don't understand why it should be so difficult to solve this conflict.

  Palestinians are shooting rockets because they want freedom. Israel does not want to give Palestinians freedom but would rather keep discriminating them.
