maybe it was protest at what passes for an education system in this country.

Probably. That's pretty much why I did it in my hometown, at about the same age too. Daddy didn't pay - oh no no no.. i did. It took months. Family court did its job and it worked out. These kids? Let's hope for the best. But.. still, how is this news?

cliffworks, it's a war dance. It's primal, tribal. At the base of it that's who we are. Does this Maori dance glorify war? I imagine not.

If however you are concerned about those promoting the night stick, look to the Grammys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4RL8lyN6Hc

Interesting to compare. Both are dark - but hot! Perhaps this Coke ad is the Japan twist to the social engineering.

And after that, how can they call it healthy? Argentina banned Coke-0 outright over health concerns.

    Moderator: Stay on topic please.

I think this is the first time for a GSDF "regional troop unit" to be sent abroad. Three weeks of drills matches the Vancouver Olympics coincidentally. "Amphibious regaining of a remote island occupied by an armed group." That's interesting. And nice picture, it could almost be Vancouver Island.

This is not good. To J-walk is personal choice. I ALWAYS wait for the light -just me, and I'm satisfied. I don't need to be coerced by a camera. Take away a person's sense of free will and they go into depression. (i'm setting an example for kids in my neighbourhood, and yeah it's a different story when I'm on the bicycle)

And who is watching? Heightened surveillance increases the potential of abuse of authority. Once power is given it is rarely give up. It's creaping away from us little by little..

“Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.” - Ben Franklin

So we give up privacy for what real benefit? Street crime moves down a block (if there was any to start!). My TAX money goes into pockets of contractors, middlemen and politicians. It's the 21 century! We've survived this long. Actually we'd do well to learn from Germany of the 1930's, and Communist Russia. Anyone teaching? Read them 1984, or watch it online.

Security is a growing, self serving fear mongering industry. It's an oxymoron come to think of it. Panasonic is Osaka based. Are all cities receiving as many cameras as I've seen in the Osaka subway?

If folk at home are employed to monitor, then they're going to know my schedule easy. Hmm.. maybe they can bring some soup for me when I call in sick then.

Hmm.. maybe the one pictured above is a "smart" camera.

Surveillance cameras are going in everywhere. Just look up. You might be amazed. The Panasonic dome cameras are all over the Osaka subway now. Each with an individual processor brain, face recognition. The camera inside can whip around. Connected together they communicate with each other to follow you from one, to the next, to the next. This they do idly. Now consider that they also have a "lean function" and it starts to get pretty invasive. The Panasonic WV-CW380 pictured above has no brain. But, if they've got a series of 16, and looking at the price, it's more than likely they've got a few.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton seems to infer an Al-Quaida link to these attacks. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

Saddam was not Al-Qaida's friend. They would have threatened his grip. No, they didn't arrive in county until.. wait for it, the US invasion. Nice shot guys! Did the CIA like holding the door open?

I don't understand the unrest at his demise. The people feared him. He was Sadam Husein's first cousin!

There was "news speak" in the book 1984, then "Fed speak" out of Greenspan. Now it's "Obama speak".

"intelligence was not fully analyzed or fully leveraged" - In other words, remaining freedoms you have will be taken, more spending on monitoring you.

Kurt Haskell is a credible eye witness to the suspect getting onto the plane 1) with assistance 2) without a passport 3) without security:

    http://www.mlive.com/news/detroit/index.ssf/2010/01/kurtandlorihaskellwe_talke.html

Haskell tells of another person video taping him throughout the flight (backed up by a 2nd witness). He tells of another man after deboarding.

    IMHO, it stinks high heaven.

This may be the better news of the day. Trouble coping, she called out. A sex club worker.. we don't know the story (Kyodo -the no news co). Single mom trying to cope, not easy the best of times. Hope she gets support now? From where? If anyone has advice, might I ask that we share and see that those who may need it receive it.

At most restaurants I think you're getting irradiated eggs. I know there's at least one company that specializes.

In Nara a few years ago a seven year old girl died eating sukiyaki with her family at home. Hers was the only egg in the pack that was salmonella infected.

How about they kick out the freeloaders with textbooks who fill seats in their shops day in day out with no regard for the business nor for the people lined out the door? At 25% of available seating by observation, isn't getting to be a bit much? The stuff is frickn' awesome but if the place is full of loafers and no seat for me then there's no sale. There are better things so spend money on.

    those analysts keep on guessing..

    No, they're fibbing.

Corporate media is just that - it is a prepared corporate message.

Meet Peter Schiff, Mark Faber, Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX), and you'll see where things are headed.

People have got to see through the smoke and mirrors.

Had AIG been allowed to fail there would be no bonus issue to start with, and no absurd outflows of funds to the likes of.. JP Morgan ($400m), Morgan Stanley ($1.2b), Wachovia ($1.5b), B of A ($5.2b), Merrill Lynch ($6.8b), Goldman Sachs ($12.9b). Never mind the roughly $35 billion AIG had handed out to non-American banks.

    Yeah, follow the money.

lets have the names of the other 5

    For a lynching? Disgraceful.

AIG gets $185 - billion - in bailouts from tax payers. The bonuses are $165 million. It works out to 0.09%. It is a red herring.

Your country is selling you out people. It's time to wake up.

    This is fluff!

Synthetic C, or ascorbic acid, is common food additive. It's often found in candy. Besides the sweeteners, emulsifiers and junk, I think that's all C1000 has going for it (dunno, rose hips listed anyone?). C1000 tastes great but I would never consider it a healthy drink. Besides it's carbonated.

And you can't find C-1000mg supplements in Japan, either. I don't know why. Outside C-1000mg is only found in time-release form, and for a reason. The body can't absorb that much as a single shot, generally. If you've had bright yellow pee after having your electrolyte topped up at the hospital that's the excess C coming out. And I've never experienced that from drinking C1000 Vitamin Lemon.

    It's trash, imho.
