it's hard to ignore the plight of millions of suffering N Koreans, but nothing else seems to work anyway. i agree with you OssanAmerica. the cycle has to be broken, otherwise this thing could go on forever.

I wonder if there would be less child abuse if the divorce/ single-parent rate were lower. just thinking through my fingers. there are always too many cases like this, but a disproportionate number seem to invlove step parents or "boyfriends." not saying other stuff doesn't happen, just that this kind of thing is all too common. either that or it's more newsworthy, so to speak.

I was almost dragged to his class at a Tokyo yoga studio by wife's friend. saw his pamphlet and everything. the photo of him flexing his tiger/dragon/wtf? tattoo on his yoga mat beside a waterfall was particularly inspiring. Definitely no flakiness going on there, i can assure you. And the streetfighter/nature guru bit...well, let me tell you, it's all real, and is in no way intended as a mere chic grabber. He is THE standard for new-age renaissance men, proven by his lyrical meets mystical lineage Chinese/Irish. Were it not for that, he would not be something the rest of us mere mortals should really and truly aspire to, and i honestly mean that. Honestly.

I find that making generalizations about an entire culture from one limited experience leads to true enlightenment.

Ultrashaman, give it a rest. You've already lost the health argument, so I'll address your moral equivocation.

Human values are more universal than they are subjective. There is no culture that morally encourages the public display of sexual acts including multiple unaquainted partners, purely for the purpose of titillation. If they do exist, they are highly unusual and anyway, Japan is not one of them. It's always a taboo, and everyone who gets into the porn industry knows they are going against the greater social mores of their culture. I am being none the more pious for giving this girl a rough time than the vast majority of the population in the "human family."

There's a reason why it's easier to get famous by going on You Tube than through the porn pipeline, and it is pure social acceptability. Even public urination and defecation enjoy more universal acceptability than porn, worldwide. Deliberately sleeping your way to fame, and then showing surprise at any disapproval expressed your way for this behavior, shows a definite lack of both logic and understanding of greater society.

If you accept the realities of people being free to choose their own path in life, then you accept real world consequences for their actions. People judge people. That is the reality. This is the real world. Sure it is cruel, at times, but nobody said it wouldn't be. This girl's mother did her a disservice, and she herself was stupid if she thought people would so easily forgive and forget her background.

Ultrasham, one "so-called" clean porn studio does not an industry make.

And you're wrong about the American porn industry and AIDS. John Holmes reportedly did hundreds of wome on the set and eventually died of AIDS. More recently there was an outbreak in 2004 traced back to actor Darrin James.

There are myriad STDs that cannot be prevented merely by wearing a condom during intercourse. AIDS and pregnancy are just about the only diseases against which condoms are relatively effective.

The overall point is, being a porn-star does not necessitate respect, in fact it demonstrably represents a variety of not only poor decision-making skills, but also questionable values, and life priorities. To put it plainly, the woman had sex with dozens, if not hundreds of men she did not even know, merely for the vain pursuit of fame. And she wants respect for this?

It would be a sad story if it weren't so laughably pathetic.
