Overall, the article had some common sense ideas. nothing ground-breaking that other people aren't saying, but sensible nonetheless.
on point number 7, i'd say reduce not only client entertainment expenses, but also travel expenses by flying coach, staying in reasonably priced rooms, and actually reducing unnecessary travel altogether. cut down on unnecessary office supplies and decoration too. in Japan this is a fine line to walk though, because the face to face meeting is the be all end all of the business relationship. and cost cuts aside, it is still a relationship, so point number 6 is the best advice.

I remember before getting a job at GEOS a long time ago thinking wow, the perks are sooooo attractive. I was mistaken. Still, compared to these days, I guess it really was heaven on earth, lol.

dishdash, I think there was the same problem with Norika Fujiwara and her loser husband. What was his name? The guy couldn't handle his wife being more successful so he had affairs to prove to himself that he was still "the man." blah blah blah.
I'd be happy if my wife was so successful I didn't need to work. I'd take the kid out all the time and learn to cook and be a great house husband. maybe start a business on the side for a hobby, or volunteer or study. and drink a looooooot of good wine.

I think they usually also entail working for competing companies, where you could give one company's secrets to their competitor. However, when the company secret is what you look like naked, I think all deals, and clothes, are off.

flatearther, you are under the misguided belief that all women are somehow "sisters," which is just as ridiculous as the expectation that some men have about other men understanding their hatred of all women.
As far as I'm concerned, your adage is one of the most ridiculous things ever proposed. It is human nature to judge the behavior of others. It is the basis of all of our laws, and keeps societies running (rather) smoothly. Komukai is no more defenseless than any other member of society, and if she chooses a "sad" career path, that is her choice, and she will be judged by society for this choice. That is reality. That is what it means to be human.

dishdash, gotta agree. she's great to look at, but the narcissism involved, ala Demi Moore too, is getting a little old.
everybody look at meeeee. no, it's not enough? ok I'll take my clothes off, now everybody look at meeeeee. still not enough? ok I'll...
ok, i get it already. you want people to look at you. now stop trying to be the center of attention and start preparing to give all your attention to someone else for a change.

Right, I said the same thing yesterday, about her statement being as stupid as a mariah carrey gem. strangely my post was deleted. in any case, regardless of the truth of the statement, it's just still dumb to say at an AIDS concert.
still, 5 times a day means one of 2 things: either her partners don't last very long, or this is a model with a lot of time on her hands.

who is the moderator now? is it safe to post, i wonder. this morning's moderator probably got the cold shoulder from marie, deleting, then editing then deleting. not even knowing JT policy.
hey look, I mentioned marie. am i on topic?

lostinnagoya,
you truly are never going to enjoy the japanese music scene, and that is your loss. outside of europe, japan has one of the best jazz scenes in the world. i don't know if it's because of your attitude, but you really seem to have selective blinders on. one minute you say there's no spontaneity, the next minute you trash anyone who plays in front of the station who is not up to your standards. huh???? and who are you winton marsalis?
I guess you are the kind of person who needs to ask the writer of this article for advice.

This is the worst example of foreigners not being able to get out of their ghettoes. There is live music everywhere everynight of the week in all genres. check out that flyer stuck to the phone pole near your house.
Tokyo is one of the best places for live music. especially jazz.
