    romulus3 - Please Google "e_080707.pdf"

If you can get the above pdf, this is the one, right? I think you should call the number 06-6313-9734 or visit the ward office, and ask and complain why you did not get the notification. I believe the Kita-ku word office is behind the Ogomachi Park from the Hankyu Higashi-dori Street, or right across the Tenjinbashi Street from JR Tenma station. (Opposit side of the K-1 gym.)

The article does not even clearly mention that the baby went through or over both or either the crib railing bars or balcony railing bars. Even if the baby went over the crib bars, a baby usually cannot go over balcony wall.

I suspect there might have been negligence on the part of the architect. I’ve seen many residential apartments in Osaka which use balcony railings that have wide gaps between the upright bars. If the architect used such wide open railing bars on the 7th floor, I think the architect should be held liable. I don’t know if this is such case. I am just guessing.

I believe people are generally very ethnocentric about food. I do not think telling others to stop eat it will solve the problem even if it’s repugnant to many other’s sense of values. In my opinion, the total ban will just cause illegal activities like we have seen in Japan. It may also cause health and hygiene problems. Some people, including myself, tend to become emotional over this type of topic. JT seem to pick any topic to earn more clicks recently.

I like this one better than collateral attackers as I’ve seen many as personal provocations.

The man fled and the boy was injured slightly, police said.

It’s really surprising his kind of incident become a news in Osaka. I have a feeling Osaka become safer than 90s.

I like Mr. Onishi’s original article on the NYT. According to the article:

in recent months, Canada and Australia have offered apologies for mistreating their indigenous populations in the past, and New Zealand transferred about 435,000 acres of plantation forest and forest rents to seven Maori tribes. Shiro Kayano, director of the Nibutani Ainu Museum here, said the Japanese government should follow other governments’ examples and offer the Ainu a broad apology, though he was pessimistic.

I sincerely hope Japan would follow the steps of Canada, Australia and NZ. I also hope China would do the same for the Tibetans.

Many recent events in East Asia make me feel like I’m reliving history. I hope the Koreans stop acting like the Japanese in 1930s when they started to blame the foreign country for their own bad economy. There are also suicidal aspects. I do not see why they attack thier own company or even country to the point they give fatal damages to it.

Why so many people here hate this doll. Doll basing is a crime against doll being. Let’s go doll watching. I wish this doll could have jumped high over the ocean.

Improved on it, and what??? “Shidoas” is not a big deal. Leave them alone. There is always an unstated presumption that everything has been created by the Westerns. This is all the same as what’s been happening in American classrooms. When foreign students (Japanese/Chinese/Korean etc) work very hard and get a good grade, they are imitators, while American students are always creators/inventors. MP3 players were invented by the Americans, right? Can’t wait to see Apple re-create Eee PC.

Once J-cop put the recording procedure in their interrogation manuals, they will perhaps mechanically conduct recording. Come to think about it, it’s scary if they start conducting interrogations in the manner Makudonaldo’s clerks would do.

So far, it is obvious the CCP has been doing a lot better job than Japan did at the time of the Hanshin earthquake. Right after the Hanshin earthquake, the Hyogo governor was so slow to ask for the SDF’s help.

This time, the scale of the disaster is so immense that China alone may not be able to handle this massive disaster. I hope the CCP will ask for the help of other countries and the UN, and let foreign rescuers in if they haven’t done so.

Reminds me of the early morning of 1.17.1995. I hope roads and railways are, at least in part, still functioning, and cell phone still working. As long as people stay there, they will suffer the shortage of food, water, doctors, and shelters. The lesson I learned from the Hanshin earthquake was that moving away from the devastated area ASAP.

Local government has the authority to regulate both zoning and building codes. The governments of Nara, Kanazawa, and many others have detailed restrictions to regulate the look of the buildings and the whole area .

I know that Mr. Mitsui has his offices in Tokyo and Osaka, and I have to agree both cities are toilets. However the lack of building restrictions is the responsibilities of the local governments. I wander why Mr. Mitsui does not want to blame the local governments?

Posted in: Japan is a disposal ground -- a toilet -- and if a foreign design turns out to be poor, the foreign architect can just go back to their own country and forget about it.

What happened to the Last Emperors of China and Korea will be likely to repeat again. East Asians tend to think history is cyclical. The religious reader (Dalai Lama) want to change this old set of thinking. The political leader (Hu) want to keep this old way of thinking.

When I was a child, I wanted my father to go camping and fire the grill in this coming season of the year. Cheap and good beef over the grill can really make Japanese kids smile.
