do ordinary, non-Lamaist Tibetans want independence or is this really a case of the minority, Lamaist monks being outspoken and not really representative of the majority? Remember, in the old regime, a Tibetan monk had his life valued as much as his weight in gold. Whereas a serf's value was…

Years of pent up anger may have fueled the unrest but the manifestation of that anger into a rampage on innocent civilians is inexcusable.

By now, it is clear that today’s media has not been helping the development of democracy in China. I remember my grandfather liked to listened to his short wave radio. He especially liked to listen to BBC radio. (They had Japanese program.) Before early 90s, those radios conveyed very positive…

Dalai Lama has received money from numerous institutions including Aum Shinrikyo. The type of donation is called “ofuse(お布施)” or “dana”. Generally, Buddhist monks accept “ofuse” from anyone even if s/he is a criminal or anti-any government.

Receipt of money alone cannot be a conspiracy against China, anyway.

Among the supporters of those pro-Tibet protestors included the Tibet Justice Center (aka International Committee of Lawyers for Tibet) in Berkeley CA, which is one of the oldest Tibet support group in the United States. They provide detailed report of human right abuses in Tibet that caused the grievances of…

I guess people shy away from posting the type of opinion I’ve been posting, but I’d like to add one more. China has a lot of good models to follow as someone mentioned above. Two of those models would be Douglas MacArthur in Japan and the British rule in HK.…

Hiko-san - I’ve been watching Lou Dobbs (CNN) and feel a little sick, but I don’t think I made errors. Why you don’t know Japanese Constitution? It’s in the sixth grade textbook. Please read the chapter three. http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/ConstitutionofJapan http://law.e-gov.go.jp/htmldata/S21/S21KE000.html

Before requiring kids to study loyalty to the nation, Japan should require its own government leaders to support and uphold the Constitution of Japan. The Japanese constitution guarantees freedom of speech; forbids censorship; guarantees equality and outlaws discrimination based on race, sex, or family origin; prohibits granting privileges or authority…

I think the author should have used narrower definition of “fascism”. The Random House Unabridged Dictionary defines fascism as “a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.”

    In China, Hu…
