As I have mentioned in several previous post, I am, as I type, on the "western Indonesian island of Batam". This is a comparatively small island and Batam Central is the hub of commerce here. The debris landed around the most popular shopping mall(I have been there many times) and has caused quite a stir around here. I got here in August and in the past three months three have been big volcanic eruptions by two volcanoes, a major earthquake, a tsunami and now a plane dropping debris on a shopping center. Never a dull moment here, Indonesia rocks........literally.

They tried that take two islands each a few years back. Japan thought they had a deal then Russia renegged. How many times have Japanese PMs brought up the subject in talks with Russian presidents (or old Soviet PMs) and they get told "there is no territorial issue, the islands are Russian".Really nothing can be done as long as Russia refuses to address the issue.

So, does that mean you ae backing off from the ZERO? Again, it's not the government's money to do with as they please.
And if the booming entrepreneur makes too much money, damn it, take it away from him so he doesn't reinvest it and get bigger.

Only an absolute idiot would say something like the national debt being ZERO. Just shows you know nothing about the debt. Do yourself a favor and look up "public debt" and "private debt" and maybe you can make an intellegent post. Klein2: Glad I could "set you straight". Now spit out the sour grapes.

typical, your money is the government's money crap. Don't pass the legistration if you can't pay for it. If you want to pay down the debt, budget it. Get your government hand out of my pocket.

@Klein2: Clinton did not hand anybody a surplus, he had defecits in both budgets in his first two years. When Newt and the republicans took over congress they would not approve his budgets and, guess what, they compremised and, presto, a budget surplus. Now here is the fundamental difference between consevatives and liberals, you think that the surplus is the government's money, conservatives believe it's the taxpayer's money. If there is a budget surplus, you taxed the people too much, so..........give it back. If you want to pay dowm the debt, make it a line item in the budget.

@klein2: What's eally hilarious is you sniping at a race here and there and trying to make it look not so bad. You lost, dude, get over it. Reid kept his seat and will remain majority leader, but (and this is important), there are enough conservative democrat senators to make him virtually impotent. Pelosi will stick aroung long enough to hand over the reins and then retire, you can't perside over such a disaster and remain the party spoksperson. As for the GOP being the party of "no", that's why they got elected, to stop all the cram-it-down-your-throat spending bills.

Just in case anyone was wondering how they did, they played 9 holes: Ryu had one birdie and one bogie to finish at even par and Woods had three birdies and no bogies to finish at 3 under.

Purchasing and downloading is one thing, downloading "free" is another. How do you expect the recording artists to make a living? So keep downloading the P2P stuff and watch all the bands and musicians and music go away.

It would be hard to imagine that there is more than one pervert in the area that would even think of doing something like this.

been happening forever. CIA brought bags of money to the northen coallition in Afghanistan to get them to fight the taliban, CIA gave tones of money to mullah Sadr in Iraq to get him to call of his jihad. Money can buy anything.

@ca1ic0cat: Actually they are mountain peaks sticking out of the water. Most of these island have peaks about 500 to 800 ft high but most villages are on the coast. The epicenter of the eathquakes are very close to the islands so very little warning for tsunamis.

Guys, I'm in Indonesia right now, on the island of Batam, about 40 km from Singapore (across the Singapore strait). The earthquake and tsunami wee on the other side of Sumatra. One month ago a volcano erupted that was dormant for about 100 years and it barely made the news here because they have more than 150 active volcanos. Yesterday they had the earthquake, tsunami, volcanic eruption and flood on the same day. This place is really awesome.
