Democrats relied on more than the president’s time to boost their chances in the final days of the campaign. There was the matter of federal funds, too, in the form of hundreds of millions in grants announced during the day to provide high speed rail service in California, between Chicago and Iowa, and elsewhere
This is a classic example of wasting federal funds. California's high speed rail system should be paid by Californians. Between a city (Chicago) and a state (Iowa)....where in Iowa do they need a bullet train? elsewhere?....Right, "give me two one way bullet train tickets to Elsewhere".

I can't see Hooters lasting long in Japan once the novelty has worn off but one never knows.
TGIF seem to be doing okay. They are in the same family restaurant category and I think Hooters is actually a better franchise.

JK, Actually one website on human trafficing shows that in Cambodia about 47% of the trafficers are mothers but, in that they are paying this family and not arresting them, I think we can at least clear mom and dad. I tried to post a link but the system thinks it's offensive.

JK: Did you not read the part where whe was rescued and in a rehabilitation center? Rescued usually means you were being held there against your will so I doubt that she would have voluntarily gone back into that trade. I really don't know how long a 13yo could have been doing this but even once at that age would most likely leave her phycologically scarred. Doubt if she ever wants anything to do with this sicko again.

Urawa police said they haven’t determined yet whether the girl’s death was an accident or a suicide

@nandakandamanda: Mostly based on the Trafficing In Persons training I had to take every month for 4 and 1/2 years. According to the people who wrote the lessons, abductions and runaways are most likely to wind up being trafficed, but I didn't rule out being sold by relatives.

Where does it say the girls family sold her into prostitution? It is possible but more likely she was kidnapped or a runaway.

Does the GOP have a leader yet, or are you still all waiting for the person who writes Sarah Palin's tweets to tell you who it is?
No. the man's name is John Boehner and he is presently the House Minority leaser and soon to be Speaker of the House.

tax revenue growth was the cause of the budget surplus = supply side economics.....oh my! Also, congress refused to approve Clinton's defecit budget.....so yes there were spending cuts. But that's okay, keep your head in the sand and it will all go away.
