This whole "default" crap is political spin. The ony way to default is to not pay the interest on the debt. That money along with Social Security and Medicare are already in the budget. If you dont use the money for other pet projects, it's there but raising the debt limit lets the gov't keep on spending monies that have not been budgeted. Spin, spin, spin (are you dizzy yet?)

@legs: So right your are. I was sleeping with my ear on the tatami once and heard a deep rumble before any shaking started. It's because the "P" (pulse) waves travel faster than the "S" (shear) waves. So keep your ears to the ground people!

Foot and mouth disease in Kuyshu, radioactive cattle in Fukushima, I guess Japan is going to have to get it's "wagyu" from Montana. They have been raising them to japanese specifications there for years.

some engine designs made by Ford are already quite old
Ford completely redesigned many of their engines this year and now have some of the lightest most powerful engines around and are compatable with E15 fuel (15% ethanol).

the american's are a little cocky at the moment, they are all talking about how they believe in themselves, believe they can win, etc etc. It could backfire on them Japan played well
I'm not sure i know what you mean. How does believing in yourselves and thinking you can win make you cocky? Do you mean that the Japanese girls don't believe in themselves and don't believe they can win, or that they do, but it doesn't make them cocky, only Americans?

Last year, it was reported that British officials uncovered intelligence that al-Qaida was seeking to surgically implant bombs inside people, a move some believed was prompted by the use of full-body imaging machines at major airports around the world.
Information discovered by the British is American BS? Explain please.

According to police, the man has confessed to burying the woman’s body in the mountains, but maintains that he had her permission to use her bank card.
Did she give him permission to bury her too or will he be charged with the ole standby "abandonment of a body".

Strange that there is no mention of the East Africa drought (the worst in 60 years) that is affecting million of people in this area and the fact the al-Bashir is under indictment by the Internation Court for crimes against humanity.

Most know that they need U.S. support but, like Okinawa, they don't want foreign troops on their soil. I never found much anti-American sentiment, just anti-military-on-our-soil.

@bass4funk: I have lived in SK and your post is exactly my point. They enjoy the freedom secured for them by the U.S. but don't want the name "Captian America" for a film.

out of concern about anti-American sentiment.
But the only countries that took them up on it were Russia, Ukraine and South Korea
South Korea? Aren't they an ally or the U.S.? Don't they depend on the U.S. to keep them from being North Koreans?

I would think any tsunami watch or warning would have to be immediate to do any good!

Olympics these days is to show off developing cities, such as in China and Brazil, it would make sense if Russia, India or even Cairo won the bid
Unfortunately you are right about the political reasons for selections these days. If you remember, they cops forced all of the day-laborers out of the parks in Osaka for the World Cup, China ran off the vagrents for their Olymips, South Africa closed the shanty towns before the World Cup, Dehli ran the beggars out before the Commonwealth games (which were a complete bust). The venues should be chosen where the worlds top athetes can do their best agains their peers, not for political or PR purposes.
Summer games in Cairo or India.......I think NOT.
