Bullies are the scum of the earth. What happens to them? I've seen these stories before, where others are named in a suicide note. Does the media get the names, is there follow-up, do the kids feel regret or anything?

There's a definite masculinity deficit in Japan. Every Japanese boy should be required to watch Bunta Sugawara movies from the '70's.
Posted in: In recent times, many men in their 20s and 30s aren't preying on women, nor are they fixated with demonstrating their masculinity.

Actually, I would think that copying themselves would be a good idea. Look back to Matsushita, Dr. Honda, Shinji Sogo, etc etc and to the four-word national strategies that led Japan out of the ashes of WW2 and to the peak of the economic miracle. However, political leadership will be important, and right now it looks to me like Japan's politicians are a bunch of spoiled trust-fund babies who've never made a contribution nor accomplished anything on their own, let alone on the scale of a Shinji Sogo.

Understandable. The third season seemed rather diluted and they have to keep finding ways to get the kumai character back in (it's the only acting gig that guy gets apparently). If they wanted to keep it going, they'd throw Yankumi into new situations, such as teaching adorable yet precocious little kids, or getting in over her head in a high-level college-prep class. But the purpose is to promote the next wave of increasingly fey-looking boy stars, so doing the same thing over and over gets boring.

What a picture.. I can't wait to see people dressed up in police riot gear to protect themselves from friggin pollen. Are people really going to do that? Please JT post the pictures.
jonnyboy, I love that store, too, although the customer service at the store at Takashima Times Square reminds me more of an American store (sullen, disinterested and completely unhelpful)

Setting the ringer on 'loud' and speaking loudly and then using the cellphone as a bludgeon to open week-old shellfish right in the middle of a busy crosswalk, forcing pedestrians to walk around. No matter how many times I see that, I just cannot get used to it nor abide it.

Nudity plus underage children at school plus socially conservative Islamic and Hindu countries. Can't see why that would raise any red flags. By the way, the executive who approved this keeps his spare change in a jar with razor blades and salt.

Why do these freaks always claim, "but I was drinking"? Then don't drink, dammit! Are the laws in Japan written with the disclaimer, "...unless you were drinking"? This guy's a slug and ought to do time.

5'2".. so regardless of the racism or other idiocy he spouted, it was merely a case of little man syndrome. I agree that not smacking him was the right thing to do, but a good old fashioned s##t-eating grin would have really fixed his wagon. Heh heh heh heh heh.

Akihito could easily solve this by issuing a statement, but that's not going to happen, is it? His father reportedly disliked Yasukuni. Who's in charge in the imperial household?
