This editorial really says nothing. Is anyone actually proposing the opposite, a prime minister who can offer timid, unprincipled leadership over a short period and then quit, without winning support for economic policies that would help pull the world out of recession and dump the strong alliance with the United States?
In another editorial, the times calls for good weather and clean parks.

Why do all discussions about the atomic bomb begin and end with Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
Harry Truman didn't give the green light to those horrible events because he wanted to incinerate civilians. Bataan, Thailand, Manchuria, Okinawa.. all of this and much, much more played a role in the decision process.
I would not have wanted to be Harry Truman on those days.

Has the iPad been out long enough for a multiplying "number of those people doing that strange masturbation-like gesture"?
How many trains has Hayao-san actually ride?
Posted in: For me, there is no feeling of admiration or no excitement whatsoever. It's disgusting. On trains, the number of those people doing that strange masturbation-like gesture is multiplying.

People don't want term limits for politicians.
They want terms limits for politicians they don't like. You want term limits for that guy in the other district who isn't voting for the stuff you want.
Guess what? Japan and the U.S. (the poll didn't specify specific nations) already have a perfect system of term limits: They're called "elections". If the people are satisfied, they vote for the same guy over and over, and tough luck to the losers. Don't tell me I can't vote for the person I want to vote for. Don't pass laws to limit my freedom of choice.
MrDog: LOL!!!!

Ren-hottie is the wave of the future? geez, the entrenched interests will be gunning for her now..
Posted in: Although voters became disgusted with the DPJ, which was unable to break away from old-style politics, many found they could support only Renho, whose role in reviewing government spending was clearly about changing the old guard.

There should be no public money used to support them, nor should there be any official function nor authority. Beyond that, if the people of a nation want to have someone wearing a crown and a sash opening bridges and shopping centers, what the hey.

How come none of the others knew an Asian language? Why is "whitey" the only language to speak? Why weren't translators allowed in the interim between photos? Japan holds a lot of U.S. currency and the western nations have a lot of trade with Japan.. couldn't one of THEM had said "O genki desu ka?"???
Posted in: After a photo session in which ceremonial pictures were taken, world leaders began to chat, centering on U.S. President Barack Obama and others. Only Prime Minister Naoto Kan was unable to join in, standing beside the other leaders alone and smiling.

I guess this movie had the lowest opening of any tom cruise movie. oh well, tom. time to back off and pick your roles much more wisely, don't end up like stallone and seagall and the rest who hold their openings at the video store. the planned comedy abut the obnoxious hollywood exec might be good. but forget the super spy nonsense (that's for kids), and the rewriting history ('the last samurai' is such an overrated chunk of kuso).
