Chavez has screwed the poor for a generation by destroying the Venezuelan economy and relying on cash handouts to buy the popular vote. In the next few months the state sponsored shops are going to be empty and the people will go hungry. And that will be the end of that "revolution".

That whole G-7 meeting was a bunch of inconsequential hypocritical posturing anyhow. He should have gone the nine yards and put his underpants on his head with some pencils sticking out of his nose.

I don't think the way English is taught in other countries is so much superior to the Japanese system. It's just that to the average kid in Japan, English has no relevance to their lives outside of school what-so-ever.

All European countries recognize the UN international criminal tribunal system. So the ONLY way in which any European country can accept to imprison anyone from Gitmo is after they had their trail at the UN court. Only problem is the US refuses to recognize the UN court as a means to protect their own citizens from prosecution. So the choice is simple, recognize international justice or deal with your own problems.

For the sake of political maturity it may be far better for Japan to try to walk the middle ground for a while. It's about time the endless chain of right wing domination of the LDP is broken, but do they really need to go extreme left as the answer? Communism has failed, simply because the people in power will always put their own interests above the common good and thus every nation that dabbled with communism instantly turned totalitarian. Let's try to take some baby steps towards a more social policy first before taking to the streets waving your communist mangas.

She's attending the final concert because it is the concert for which the DVD recording is made. Also one of the main attractions of the concert was the return of the GAM duo, which was suspended 2 years ago after a scandal broke in which Miki Fujimoto (the other half) was caught with her boyfriend by paparazzi. These things matter..

The government should realize that their bringing in unelected leaders one after another has eroded the trust of people in them up to the point where the workers they are employing cannot do their jobs in safety anymore. It's time to call new elections so people have a chance to show their anger at the pension debacle and other screw ups in a democratic way.
