I hope Beat Takeshi gave him an earful about what a bad job he's doing, and THEN hit him in the head with the plastic hammer. PEEP!

This surprised me, had no idea she was ill. After hearing she would be involved in the new ST project, I assumed nothing was wrong. She should be happy now together with the Great Bird of the Galaxy, Scotty and Bones. Warp Speed.

Unfortunately, I think Keanu is being typecast more and more. It probably all began with the movie "Johnny Mnemonic" with Beat Takeshi. Later he plays Neo, Constantine, now this. In between these movies he did play some other roles, but I think he needs a new agent.

I think Sentokun makes Buddha look like a devil of some sort with those horns. What ever. I loved watching a recent sport competition between mascots from all across Japan on TV. The people wearing the costumes really earned their yen that day.

Of the three, I prefer Mantokun I guess.

I'm glad Mazda's doing something, all these layoffs in Hiroshima are depressing. Hydrogen cars would be great, if they ever get around to building more stations for them.

One thing I have to add is I really hate the Sustainable Zoom-Zoom name. Talk about not being catchy. Unfortunately the Hiroshima Carp's new stadium is called Zoom-Zoom stadium. Ugh.

Kenji Sawada is a great entertainer and singer. He has been singing, not lip synching, since the 60's. According to Wikipedia his nickname "Julie" comes from the fact that he is a big fan of, yep, you guessed it, Julie Andrews. Quite a marathon concert for a 60 year old! Wonder if he sang Hare Nochi Blue Boy.....

changing a couple of genes (proteins) ain't gonna kill you!

It's going to take a long time to determine whether or not this is true. They may not kill, but they may harm. We just don't know for sure.

I guess that's one way to get attention. She's lucky she didn't kill any innocent neighbors, let alone her dad.

Remember, this is a country where they moms and dads buy seat belt looseners, so that they won't be bothered by the shoulder strap. Very dangerous. Sure, the driver of the other car, if at fault as the story said, should be punished for bad driving, but the boy's father, or actually the driver of the car the boy and his father were in, should be held responsible in some way for not buckling him up. That is the main reason he is dead, not the fender bender. Sad, easily preventable death.

When I first heard this on the news, I immediately thought bullying, but I'm sure the police have a good reason to believe it isn't. Perhaps the other boys were covered in sand too, and crying for their buddy, I don't know.
If they played this game before, don't ya think the parents would wonder why their kids are coming home with sand all over their clothes? Bullying or just a stupid game, hope he recovers.

Taguchi is a lucky boy, even though I don't think he played. Congrats to the Phillies for the win. Also otsukaresama to both teams for playing so well under crap conditions (late starts, delays, rain, etc.).

As tigris pointed out in the Asahi newspaper report, 200,000 yen was withdrawn from an ATM using the policeman's credit card. Probably after they ran him over to get his card number.

Bad luck for the girl and her friends on her choice of dates. The gang probably has rolled their last John.

rjd_jr, I think they meant she's the first Asian to perform as a headliner.

I'm sure there will be a TV special showing her performance. I'm glad she is still singing, and hasn't become a mindless talent as some other singers have.

I was wondering why the 5 candidates were going all over the country, and appearing on all of those TV shows. It's not like the Japanese public is voting for them. Who cares?!?!? The LDP chooses, and I am glad they chose Aso. I don't like Aso, but I figure with the election coming up, he will probably be the leader for a very short time. So, it's best to get him now than later.
