Just recently they had a couple of Japanese vampire dramas too. Wonder what the fascination is with vampires in the US and elsewhere recently. Wonder when the werewolf boom will occur...

Well I guess we all know where the airplane otakus will be on Dec. 1. See train otakus all the time in Hiroshima taking pics of the streetcars. Or are they streetcar otakus. Hmmm. I like the retro look of the planes. They should paint one up in Pan Am or TWA colors for fun. Now that brings back memories...

kirakira25, her co-member on the show, Makiko Esumi, is still working, and is beautifully pregnant. Don't know why Uchida thought she had to leave, but as marushka said, she probably just wanted to concentrate on her family, and not deal with the geinokai. This is Makiko Esumi's second child I think, so she's probably used to it.

SHOCKING! During an investigation!?!?! All police officers know that they should only steal panties on their own time.

We all know the real reason though, Lucky 7. They're hoping for a little more good luck with this system than they had with Vista. It'll probably be called Windows 8 in China, as I believe that is a lucky number there. I'm sure Windows 7 will sell well, but there may be a lot of buyers out there that didn't do well with Vista, and would be wary to buy 7.

The Japanese movie industry is the same as any other country's movie industry. Hits and misses. If you are a real movie buff, and not just looking for something to entertain you for a couple of hours, there are a lot of good Japanese movies out there. The frustrating thing for me, though my Japanese if pretty good, is that I can't rent a dvd with English subtitles, or go to the movie theater to watch a Japanese film with English subtitles. Another sad part about the movie industry here, is we don't hear about lot of the gems. Large studios make movies they think will make a lot of money, as in other countries it is after all a business, and then promote the heck out of them. The more significant movies are often lost in all the hoopla.

The inattentive driver may have been the father. According to the news I saw, his lane had a stop line. If this is true, I hope that the truck driver doesn't get pulled through a ringer for it. RIP to dad and son. Get well soon to truck driver.

I agree that a small penalty of some community service would be appropriate. Or maybe they can make it an annual event, running in fundoshi instead, to give it a more traditional feel.

Soon we'll be seeing this in a J-Drama:
Hey man, open up, it's me Kenji. What? Hey man, open up it's me Kenji. I think the cops are coming. Who? Kenji man. Kenji? Kenji's not here man. No man I'm Kenji. What?
Looking forward to seeing Cheech anc Chong's dvds and cds translated into Japanese for the masses.

The one word that bugs the crap out of me, is the misspelling of the word LOSE. It is not LOOSE, it is LOSE. Not just by foreigners learning English, but by native speakers. Examples I have seen:
"What a looser." "Did you loose the game?"
Do a search on Google for "loose the game" or "loose a game" or "he's a looser" and you will be surprised at how often it is misspelled. At least Google adds a "did you mean lose" message at the top of the search results for the latter two.
Drives me nuts whenever I see it.
Disillusioned, you are "pitying" a very large number of people.

The shiso flavor was not as good as I thought it would be. Not enough shiso taste. Same with the wasabi cider another company put out. Just not enough wasabi taste for me. I will probably try this azuki pepsi (not coke), but I have a feeing the flavor will be weak like the shiso pepsi. I kind of like the green tea coke. The green tea masks the aftertaste of the sweetener they use. Same reason I prefer Pepsi Nex to Coke light, the lemon used to mask the sweetener taste.

After re-reading the title, I see what you mean jason6. When I first read it, it sounded like Erika's husband had said she was taking drugs. Actually it is saying that Erika's husband's drug use is the reason Erika was fired. This is supported by the first sentence in the third paragraph:
"But rumors in the entertainment industry hint that Takashiro, suspected of using illegal drugs, may be the true reason behind his wife’s dismissal by the agency."
Confusing title.

Feel sorry for Noriko Sakai. Seems that if you were anywhere near her, you are suspected of drug abuse. I once watched one of her dramas, hope they don't come after me. Sawajiri does have people problems. Whether she chooses to deal with them or not, is up to her. She hasn't really been active in the entertainment industry lately, and unfortunately for her, I don't think anyone has really noticed. I liked her in dramas and films, but there are a lot of young actresses of her caliber available. Whatever she decides, good luck to her.

We got a spiffy new washing machine, that dries the clothes too. It is a pain in the petootie. Before we could just dump all our stuff in and push the button. Now we have to carefully separate the clothes based on what they are made of. Heck of a lot more work for mother and me. Put the clothes in, and the machine tells you how much it weighs, how much detergent to put in, and that it will take 3 hours to finish. I guess that includes the drying, but three hours?!?!? Doesn't seem to matter how small the loads are. Wish we hadn't sunk all that yen into this thing. Simple is best.

I think they should make separate categories, like best comedy, best drama, etc. 5 movies in each category would equal a lot more movies, and maybe a lot more interest.
