I do agree that drivers should slow down in areas without sidewalks, or if there are people walking on the side of the road. That would definitely prevent a lot of accidents. That and not talking on the cellphone while driving.

While I know the driver is at fault, this is another example of why sidewalks are a real good idea. There are too many roads in Japan without sidewalks, and cars and busses have no where to go if people or bicycles are on the side of the road. Build more sidewalks and fewer airports for goodness sake!

What a crappy thing to say. Sure not scoring goals is a problem, and perhaps more children should be trained to shoot more. I think it is related to the group mentality of Japan, feeling they have to pass the ball around so everyone has a touch before shooting. Maybe they need to teach a little more about individuality I guess. But to say the J-League is boring because of this is going a bit far. There are plenty of exciting games, and good players. That's like saying the 1982 Italian national team was boring because of their defensive play. Remember the 1982 World Cup? In the first round Italy tied every game. Second round they won two games scoring 5 goals and allowing 3. It wasn't until the last two games that really shined, the first beating the high-scoring Polish team, 2-0, and then the Germans 3-1. J-League will never be on the level of Serie A, or the Premier League, but it is enjoyable to watch.

Why are some posters saying child porn? This is a case of a hidden camera in a toilet, and was being used to film adults. That said, pretty sick, if you ask me....

I always wondered why Mr. Aso had that lopsided grin on his face all the time. I agree with some of the other posters here, this type of "grey" porn has to stop. I think it is the root of all of the reported/unreported child abduction/sexual abuse cases in Japan. I love the argument some supporters use. "If there were no magazines like this, more men would try it for real." I got news for you, plenty ARE trying it for real. Probably getting great ideas from the manga and mags available. The live event detailed in the article is unbelievable, and let's not get into the lolicon games or dvds available here.

I agree with Sarge, I loved "The Yakuza" when I first saw it. Robert Mitchum and Ken Takakura. I think it is really well done. "Black Rain" was also a really good movie, filmed in Osaka. Michael Douglas, Andy Garcia and the great Ken Takakura again, but the one who steals the show is the late Yusaku Matsuda. His performance is truly memorable, and I can only imagine how far he would have gone if he hadn't died from bladder cancer just after the movie was completed. He was actually in a lot of pain during the filming. If you haven't seen either of these movies, check 'em out. Thankfully they are, I believe, completely CG free.

I woke up at 2:00am to watch it on CNN. It was well done. Not a madhouse as many reporters probably hoped it would be. The performances were done in good taste. I thought Usher's was the best. The comment by Michael's daughter, Paris, at the end was moving, made my wife cry. I have to admire the simultaneous translators who worked on this broadcast. They did their best, and The one who was trying so hard to bring across the emotions and words of Maya Angelou's poem read by Queen Latifah gets special kudos. I'm sure this will be rebroadcast by NHK in the near future with subtitles. If not, they will probably have it online for viewing, as it was streamed live. Perhaps a free download on iTunes is in the works. Anyway, RIP Michael Jackson, and thanks for everything.

Very sad for the family, but mom should have closed the window.

Am I just goofy? This is a hit and run case, isn't it? It isn't a PROBABLE hit and run case, right? I mean the girl was hit, the car didn't stop. Sad case, I feel sorry for the little girl and her family. I'm sure the mother doesn't need any lessons on how to be a mother right now. She's probably very aware that mistakes were made. I was also wondering about the name. Is the girl's father a foreigner? Just curious, since her name is Sara.

I agree with JeffLee, fried foods are almost ALWAYS in bentos. Be it croquettes, katsu, or tempura, it is hard to find a bento without something fried in it. I wish there was more variety in bentos though. Where are the vegetarian bentos? I also wonder why the article uses the word tonkatsu instead of pork cutlet. Just curious.

Many schools have rules against using phones during class time. Doesn't stop all of the students though. So, arrive at school, put your phone in your phone locker. You can have access at lunch time, and finally pick it up on your way to club or home. Total ban is a bad idea. Can also be used for a class or two on proper use, manners, etc. Make the rule, and stick to it. Give the teachers and/or school the power to enforce it, and not let some parents insist their child must have their phone all day. If parents are worried about the gps in the phone in case their child is abducted, tell them to implant a gps chip under their child's skin. I believe a company in Mexico is doing a booming business doing just that and offering a tracking service. The gps in the phone will only help them find the phone.

This should be exciting for Nagoya. I'm sure Pixie is happy to get a tall man in the middle. 9 seasons in Germany will bring a lot of experience to the team.

Hopefully he'll get things turned around after the all-star break. Okajima has also struggled this season, hasn't he?

Sorry Stonecoldsoba, but homophobia is correct, as Osugi, who is mentioned along with Haruna, is gay, not transgender. But generally speaking, it seems to me that both of these groups, gay or trans, are more readily accepted in the J-media. Have to agree also with what sk4ek wrote.

gogogo, are you talking about Steve Ballmer? It is sad that there is an "Okama" group stereotype, but at least they are accepted in the entertainment industry. Probably a lot more than they might be in the US, where I think a lot of people are still very homophoebic.

I hate to point fingers, but I am really disappointed in Abe, both in this game and the previous game. He is just not playing well. He is definitely not a replacement for Nakazawa. I think they do have a good striker in Okazaki, if they could get him the ball. Matsui had some good runs, but he doesn't seem to mesh with the team like Nakamura (Shinsuke) does.

But the big question is, what color will your pee be after drinking one? I remember drinking "green" beer at a bar on St. Pat's day in the States, and being amazed at the color the food coloring made my pee. Shiretoko Draft is very expensive, so I would think there must be something more than just a green color. Hopefully it has a great taste. Looks a bit like melon soda though....

Regarding his outfit, he is probably heavily influenced by Marilyn Manson. Just a thought.
