Yuri: You seem to think I am happy about the situation, but I'm not. The point is you and a lot of other posters thought Okinawa could become Swiss like in the presence of the world. Peace to you meant no troops, we all love each other. Reality is you must be prepared for the worst.
And read my post again, and tell me where I am crowing? I am being matter of fact, where both Iha and Nakaima are not doing much for Okinawa other than the no base issue. All of my in-laws are Okinawan, and I get it. The economy needs help. The base plan involves a lot of land being given back so Naha (Naha port), Urasoe (Camp Kinser), and Ginowan (MCAS Futenma) get valuable land that can be developed.
But then again, the only developing here belongs to Jusco.

Well, considering that the 2 main candidates have both said NO BASE, then I guess this election may mean another 4 years of wrestling with an issue that should not be as important as other things here. Such as:
Highest unemployment in Japan No real industry or sustaining jobs, just service industry Not a real tourist destination (lots of very expensive hotels, but no attractions, other than the beach) Highest DUI rate in Japan (and yes, the Okinawans, not the Americans)
Address those issues, and I'll be impressed.

Well, in a society where speaking out is not the norm, there is more of this (yes, a blanket statement, but individuality is an important concept that is lost here once Jr. HS is entered).
The boy obviously is not able to deal with anger real well. So he acts out. I think he needs psychiatric help more than jail.

Klein: Actually, I fly Narita to the US 4 - 8 times a year, and all of those aircraft have better metal reinforced doors than planes used to. Plus, they like to station stewardess' at the door when the pilots need to take a leak. Not really a deterrent, but one or two more people to get through to get to the cockpit.

Is there proof TSA has stopped anyone that would have blew up a plane? I mean, everyone from the shoe bomber to the underwear man all originated from outside the US, so the TSA would have had no effect on them. The guys that committed the 9/11 crimes did not carry bombs, they carried knowledge. This enabled them to know flight patterns, pilot controls, and a way into the cockpit.
I say that the only real good thing to come out of the 9/11 attacks, with respect to security, are the doors being reinforced. And I feel having air marshals on flights is a good preventative measure. They just need to be on board, in a uniform, and have a German Shepard with them. That will pretty much prevent any shenanigans on board.

Commercialization of anything is the new foundation of the Japanese economy.

Have to agree with the NFOMS crowd (No Fat On My Seat). Here's why;
I paid my hard earned money for that little bit of space that the airline calls a seat. Very small, not comfortable at all, no pitch to speak of, but I fit in it. And maybe a few inches of space on either side (5'9", 195 lbs). I am not fat, but have an athletic build and do not come close to spilling over.
So when I sit down, the last thing I want is some big guy who over indulged at the Narita McDonald's and sits next to me for 12 hours to DC. When his body does not fit and starts to take up my space, I have an issue with that. If you don't fit, pay more. All this pandering to the obese is just not right.

Is it just me, or does the woman appear to have some big "sweater kittens"?
And children at protests such as this do not understand, they are being used as a propaganda tool.

Why is the last paragraph necessary? I mean, really? I know JT just does a cut and paste from news sources, but the story is about a ship that sunk, not the Japanese/China nonsense.

Nothing like having a few Chinese on here trying to steer the conversation.
The test was a good one, and it shows some capability in case the mentally ill in NK throw some stuff up in the air. That's all they can do at the moment with only 4 ships. But it's a capability that they must grow.

The more interesting point all of you are missing is the base relocation issue being discussed. I think that this is being done so Obama does not hear "Trust me" again in a meeting with a Japanese head of state.

I guess he was UP for this type of crime. I digress.
It is assault, and the sexual part may or may not hold up in Japan. It may in the West, but maybe not here. Either way, the dude needs help. San Quentin could be a good landing spot.

I don't need glasses. I have them already.
And all of them would be kicked out of bed.........More room on the floor.
Kidding aside, even the USA girls are good looking. I just have a preference.

Yes. But the blame for this is not on the kids, but society in general. Parents not being parents, teaching their children to respect those that are older than them.

And the only people that complain about Hooters are women that are insecure. Those that are very secure in themselves (ie. have self confidence in themselves as women) don't think it's a big deal. They say, "Where's the companion restaurant for women called Peckers?"
