Hmmm,
"Marubeni Oil & Gas (USA) Inc"
"Eni Petroleum U.S. LLC"
Add in NAFTA and the fact this field is right on Americas doorstep... I somehow don't see the benefit for Japan !

What the hell for ???
Gee folks, don't we already know, by every economic model readily available, that auto sales will slump over the next few years ! Why is Japan incorporated so hell bent on losing more money on the US market ? This is more poor investment strategy by the Japanese, who at this time next year, will by whining on and on about how they lost money on the US market. I say stop the presses, focus your expansion on China... but to do that... yer gonna have to play nice !

Just more evidence to my assertion that Japanese girls are some of the most self absorbed individuals on the planet ! When they shop, it's for themselves ! What they purchase, is for themselves ! These stupid little illuminated mirrors are strictly for seeing "themselves" in-the-dark ! Enough already ! It's bad enough that they fill their cellphones with photo's of themselves ! Now this silly little product that helps them view their "mug" even when it's dark... how comforting, or... how narcisistic ! You decide !

More finger pointing by Japan here. Why doesn't the nation fess up to the obvious fact... That Japanese business people are not wise ! This same thing happened a few years back when Russian markets experienced a sudden change of fortune. J investors lost millions and whined about it the whole time.
This subprime issue in the US seems to have become (A)a scapegoat and excuse for poor investment habits... gee, why didn't the Japanese invest in other parts of Asia which are seeing booming economies ? and (B) a red-herring being used to divert attention from one of Japan's hugest scandals... Ishihara bank !
Sorry Japan, no sympathy here... you sleep in the bed you make.

Question: Is this really news ?
Answer: Yer darn tootin' it is !
Though its only 4 sentences in length, this article speaks volumes as to what Japan's position on market access is. First, the need to announce that "American" products will now be on sale. Like this is some major event or something. Begs the question... why has it taken this long to gain market access ?
Next, notice the time limit on the sale. A mere 6 days to take advantage of a sale, that will undoubtedly end up with everything being sold out ! And when shop owners will be asked if they will import more American food items... they will say "no". Just like they did in the past. Again, upon being reminded that "all the product" sold out... they will still say "no". Later down the road, when all is forgotten, the market whiz kids in Japan will once again spread the news that the reason American products aren't sold in Japanese stores is because their is "no demand !"
Mark my words... this will happen. It's a damn shame that in this day and age, when Japanese auto makers have unlimited access to the US markets... that we still get these whimpy little 6 day sales to enjoy cheaper and more superious products from the USA. When will the American politicians wake up and put a stop to this one way street of doing business with the Japanese. Lets hope Obama comes out for "managed trade" with Japan.
