This talk of international experts coming in seems impractical - they would need to take a crash course in Japanese to make heads or tails of the instrumentation and manuals.

They don't need experts to run the machines, they need them to help with engineering quick fixes to all the little problems they are running into.

I'll nominate arashi for worst on my list. Those guys are on every single ad and every TV show I see on TV. Johnny doesn't seem to care about overexposure.

Yeah they are saying the levels of radiation in the number 2 reactor's turbine room are in the level of sieverts now. Don't know how they are going to be able to get close to that one.

There's no exclusive info - they will have to report on everything to the IAEA

If tepco are in bed with anyone it's the nuclear and industrial safety agency. I bet there's a lot of amakudari going on there.

I suspect these reactors could have been successfully cooled from straight after the quake and tsunami, but they bungled it and now it has gotten this bad that the American government has to tell them to stop using sea water

I think the IAEA have to step up their game too. They should have known about problems with these plants too. Also, a couple of IAEA specialists came out here to measure radiation last week and then pissed off again 2 days later. Doesn't look like they want to involve themselves much.
