"Berlusconi had many prostitutes" is not a crime. as long as it's on his money, and they are not minors. he screwed point 2 (while is disputable if consenting 17 is a minor, law is law, even if she lies about her age?), let's see about point 1. And I'm a bit confused about the definition of "prostitute" here: giving your 2 months-long "girlfriend" generous allowances is prostitution? 90% of men should go to jail then

rainman, I like my wine on a long flight, goes well with the 2-3 movies I usually watch. not everybody can sleep in that bloody narrow space. I may do some work as well, but recently I'm lazy/tired enough not to. I can go without too much sleep, so it's actually supportable. Of course I envy those who pass out during take off and wake up upon landing. different genes

smartacus, that makes perfect sense, and my JAL flight is at 22:30. my point was that 23:59 is too late. and since I lived near Haneda for a while, I know that there was some rule against night flights, for people in the area to be able to sleep

I'll go to Hawaii on Wednesday (business trip), but I stick to JAL, I'm used to it and the service, and it was actually cheaper. but what's with the 11:59 pm, are they allowed to fly that late? and it's not really appealing to enjoy the first meal at 1:30 am...

I wish they would stop advertising the "white wedding", in a hotel chapel with a fake priest and everything perfectly organized and horribly fake. I went to a Japanese-style wedding last week, and it was absolutely great. hard for me to understand why it's not popular anymore

limboinjapan, to complete you, there was a great band called Dead Can Dance who gave up conventional language altogether, and created their own idiosyncratic language to convey the feeling of the songs

Actually love hotels are not unique to Japan, you can find them in Korea as well (I've seen something similar in Taiwan, but haven't use it, so can't tell for sure). When I was a student (= short on cash), I stayed in two cheap hotels in Seoul and they were horrible. Then we saw this nice pink hotel nearby, it was great, cheaper, very clean, good amenities (and free porn, together with free regular movies). We stayed there one month

the Prince is actually a great guy, very down to Earth and modest. maybe because he did a PhD abroad, and he really likes research. Princess Kiko always has the same smile, I can just pity her for having to obey the stupid protocol

I used to drink the fake stuff when I was a student (= damn short on cash). I haven't touched it in many years. And I drink beer almost every day (the rest of the days I drink wine:). But I have nothing against happoshu: it's good to have a cheap alternative for students of those who don't care that much about the taste, and a real beer for those who care for the extra price and quality. After all, even wine has its Beaujolais

I lived in south Chicago for a while, and some statistics said Hyde Park is as dangerous as Bagdad. Most areas there you couldn't go at any time at the day, and robberies and rape (or attempted) were a daily occurence

not necessarily. they may simply panic when seeing a flash of their life ruined, maybe even not being their fault, and flee, just to turn in after a few days when their heads cool down. it's not an excuse for running away, but it's a reality. and running away basically seals their fate, regardless of circumstances

actually my friends did some research into this. they posed as movie producers, and they starting asking young and attractive ladies passing by if they are interested to star into an amateur porn movie. well paid, foreign kakkoii actors, no hard stuff. If I remember correctly, about 1/3 were interested and agreed

that's exactly why I love iTunes (besides being a Mac fan): I don't want to pay for 10 songs in order to listen to 1 or 2. While I can listen to music for free, I gave up the habit in order to support the musicians I like; but I want the freedom to choose what I buy and what I don't.

Zenny, the Japanese employes at that company also needed a guarantor. If you have your family it's ok, but if you're a foreigner in Japan, even if you did your undergrad and graduate studies here (as my friend did), it's very difficult to find a guarantor.

My friend was required to have a guarantor when he got employed by a foreign company (and a big one) in Tokyo! he was completely shocked, and since he's a foreigner and no Japanese will even become a guarantor unless family tied, he asked me. I agreed, but then the company didn't accept it because I am also a foreigner, and I don't have PR.

SimonFox, while in Rome... This is the standard for hot legs here, it is obviously different from US or Norway.
Some interesting facts about this gal: "She was given the nickname "No Mercy" for her countless reported atrocities toward other show-business girls she worked with, in her teenage years, especially toward actresses, glamour models, and fashion models from foreign countries, whom she considered to be "fat"."
