on the slopes I've been to, they announce every 30 minutes or so that getting off limits will cost you to be rescued. nevertheless, hordes of snowboarders do it, as they do many other stupid things they believe it's cool. I say fine them before getting lost. wonder why almost no skiers do the same

he was a nicely dressed dude blending with the people at the Uni. we are not very safety conscious on the campus, and he was preying on people leaving their wallets for a moment, etc.

The Japanese press said the car had green light, according to witnesses. It was a big three lanes road. Regardless, the guy is toasted, both by the system and by the heavy burden of involuntarily killing two children.

Wala, sorry for your loss, regardless of whose fault was it it's a terrible tragedy. I notice that the police says they were not wearing a helmet. Since there was a traffic light there, it comes down to who ignored the red light, the bicycle or the car.

really bicultural? that adds a new dimension to the term "sao shimai" (sorry mods, a bit of Jp slang is educational)

yes smartacus. as smith said, they tried to make them illegal, but the mamas complained and they allowed it again. regardless, if they were on the zebra, it automatically puts the driver at blame. more details would help though

the prophets on JT proved wight again. but this was an easy one :) "while performing in a bikini, among other revealing outfits" I think I'll start broadening my "musical" tastes

"I've got a baby in me" I'm really curios how did that sounded in Japanese

What my best friend (married) told me before I got married a few months ago: "are you ready to renounce a good romance and a close friendship for getting married?" well, I did, and he was right :)

RIP for the mom, but this has been the top national news for 2 days now, could somebody please stop this media hysteria and give the poor girl some privacy? I know she's a media mascot in Japan, but isn't this too much?

every time I heard another AKB marketing news (that's about everyday), I always think what a genius their producer(s?) is/are. This guy should be elected prime minister, the Japanese economy will skyrocket

Horsefella, on easy or medium slopes I ski really close to those guys sitting in the middle of the slope and give them a taste of snow. But it is really dangerous on the tough slopes where I don' have that much control and I must slalom between paralyzed beginners.

kurisupisu, yeah we're all dead in Tokyo, the government cloned some 33 mil zombies to deceive the tourists

iron, I'll hit the slopes this weekend. In recent years, I see many foreigners, not only Chinese or Koreans, but also Americans, Australians, you name it. And I've never seen any of them behaving rudely. The only guys I have a problem is are the chinpira and gyarus that come for the fashion parade on their boards and keep on sitting in the middle of the slope and entering the difficult slopes and becoming live obstacles

Smith, it's written clear in the article that she did request the liver. And any Japanese kid knows that fugu liver is poisonous. I don't know, but it's maybe ok if you taste just a bit and she had too much? or this fugu was especially toxic? anyways, it's clearly a two way fault here (by the way, this story reminds me of a tour guide in Australia who got in trouble after explaining that the eucalypt leaves koalas eat are toxic to humans, a woman picked one up and started chewing on it. they had to carry her to the hospital)
