I am really sad. I would like to think that he was "suicided" (thanks Nessie - but perhaps you mean he was pushed? I doubt that.) by prosecutors and the actions of those he loved. He really seemed like a nice guy. I was, I am a fan.

There are those that say he should have stood trial, and that he betrayed his supporters belief in justice. Or that he brought shame on Korea. Not so.

Perhaps if he faced trial he would have recieved a stiff fine and a suspended sentence. It seems to me that he wanted his supporters to continue to believe in justice to the point of purity, and show that crime (no matter how small his part in it) does not pay. So, he tried and sentenced himself, too severly.

    Roh Moo-hyun, rest in peace.

J pop is more about looks, than sound, and they do look a lot better.

The difference in emphasis means that performers from both sides of the pacific do not do well on the far side.

Understandable lyrics, and the band leader married a Japanese woman and promoted "Love and Peace" (as reported even in Japanese school textbooks).

The philosophy of "Imagine" was largely a result of Ono's influence and expressed in her book, "Grapefruit." In turn, the "no border(s)," people living together in peace, and above all the power of imagination to bring about desirable outcomes, are perhaps Japanese memes.

So, perhaps Lennon's partial conversion to Japaneseness helped to maintain Beatle popularity.

no-one can predict an individual's healing rate.

An estimation of the time-to-heal is nearly always given in Japanese papers. It is only an estimation, but it gives an idea of the severity of the cuts, and the crime.

I thought it was rather corny but the "City of God" like concentration on children on the edge of poverty and violence made it well worth watching.

Sorry I should have said Nagasaki. The novel is set in Nagasaki. I am sure that there would be loads of cheap locations and extras at any number of places in Japan.

It's a shame it is going to be shot in New Zealand rather than Yamaguchi.

Sock it to them Kawaiitenshi. Or don't sock it, just tell them politely, like you have.

Ozzies and other Western women often try to look like men (jeans with pants sticking out the top, agressive look, "power dressing," not bothering to dress up at all). Japanese women are happy to be women. Even a lot of Japanese men would like to be or dress up as women. It is good to be a woman here. Men are "the second sex." It is good that at least someone in the word thinks so. It is time that Western women looked to their Japanese systers and stop trying to copy men. Being a lawyer is not fun, really. Wake up!

But then again it is nice that are some ladies like that. I'd be Miranda from Sex and the City's house-husband any day, partly because I have been in Japan for a long time and respect the house-wifey-lifestyle.

"When she marries, she follows her husband."

What? Is anyone married to a Japanese woman? Follow?! Folloooowww?? You are all on acid. Japanese women think men are dogs. "Fetch!"

Japanese women want to be paid to look after a baby, and hang out at culture centres with their friends. What is not big about that ambition?

Multilingual lawyers are so Big, but I bet the housewives have less stress and more fun.

I waited up, and I thought it was kind of sensible and uninspiring.

I liked the centerism (goverment if it works, the good and bad of the free market).

The "America to lead the world again" bit a downer though. I wish America would stop thinking that the rest of the world wants a leader, and just avoid making a mess up of things.

Naikan Ryouho (introversive therapy) made especially by Japanese for Japanese is perhaps the Japanese version of psychoanalysis. It uses imagination rather than speech and seeks gratitude rather than blame. It seems to work pretty well on some Japanese people, and a few Germans.

Tsubo Image Ryohou (Urn Image therapy) another image based therapy developed by a Japanese for Japanese using a pot or urn with a lid into which one projects nice and not so nice emotions. The important thing is the existance of the lid since it enables the client to control the images and emotions therein imagined.

Also see Undou (movement) and Morita (sitting around doing nothing on your own) therapies for other good therapies created in Japan.

I would also recommend photography and filmmaking as another image-based, expressive artisitic and therapeutic activing. How about a video of Aiko growing up? Or a video of inside the imperial palace/home? Not only would it be therapeutic, it would be worth millions one day.

Go go Masako, we are rooting for you.

I disagree that "Women in general are second class citizens in Japan." I think that they are only seen as second class citizens outside of the home, but the home is seen as the larger part of society. Society outside the home is secondary to the home, which it functions to support. It is in the home where women hold sway. All this responsibility leads to some destructive behaviour, especially by Japanese women within the home.

I think that violence among family memembers is much lower in Japan that the US or UK, and there is more violence between men in male-centered Western societies in general.

Miyazaki, believes it is becoming difficult to reach out to children’s souls because of increasing consumerism and the virtual world. Television, video games, email, mobile phones and manga (BUT NOT ANIME!?!)are sapping children of their strength, he worries.
