KuYani. I am sorry but your post is new age nonsense. Where is the science to back this absurd assertion that the earth is evolving in this manner?
Human beings are too egocentric when the should be humble. The earth will not significantly evolve in the brief time we are here. Time on the geophysical scale is just too long for us to witness dramatic changes.
Second. The evidence is pretty clear that we are negatively impacting the environment, and yet people would rather jump to 2012 end of the world, world evolving, sun spots or anything to escape taking responsibility for what we are ACTUALLY causing. This is self destructive, harmful and simply flat earth level thinking.
We must acknowledge our impact humbly and take steps to change our behavior. It is good for the earth, good for us, good for the future. It is only bad for profiteering capitalism that wants to sweep this away to keep their year on year margins on target. Another manifestation of egocentric pride that needs to go.

I really hate this stuff. I am not at all religious. In fact I am fairly well against the concept of organized religion. But at the same time I respect that the world has a heritage that includes religion.
Now I grew up with Christmas and people feeling just fine about a manger scene in the city park. And to be honest I still don't care if there are Christian elements in the city park. As long as it isn't to heavily influencing government.
I love Christmas. I enjoy the pagan and Christian elements and try to just enjoy the holiday. I don't understand why we have to be so PC that we have to ruin holidays to keep some killjoy happy.
Instead, let's just celebrate all the holidays that are represented in our community and try to appreciate culture diversity by sharing it with each other rather than blocking it all off.

Same goes for Darren. Why would they do that?
Sure they must have believed an attack somewhere was possible. But it is simply consipiracy theorist nonsense that they knew the attack was Pearl Harbor and let it happen anyway. You give far too much "dark side" credit to people who clearly were not minions of pure evil.
Study history and learn more about what REALLy happened. And stop listening to silly and unfounded speculation.

kwatt. Nonsense! America's military in 1941 was a 1920's level military with a lot of left over from the first world war. Why don't these conspiracy believers learn to study history a little better?
Both the major allied players were weak in military power in 1940-41. Russia and the US both had outdated equipment across the board. Something that didn't change until fairly well into the war. Just look at Japanese vs American airpower in 1941. Or Soviet vs German air power in 1940.
I don't know where you guys get your information, but you really do need to dig a little deeper and pay more attention to the details.

Thankfully, I have never felt any pressure or influence in daily life from religion here. On the contrary, I have found the local general religion to simply add a family and cultural element to life in Japan. One that is respectful of the right of people to choose or not to choose to believe.
The only exceptions I can think of in over 11 years in Tokyo are 1. Mormons (not Japanese) who bother us sometimes. 2. A hand fully of very nutty cults who pop up on streets now and then. 3. Tenri which was one of the creepiest places I have ever visited in any country. But they did not bother us.

AerosX, there is no reason to believe that this guy is not a Muslim. We don't know what the point of contention was. Could be anything. Could be something simple that an Australian adherent may not think is a bad thing, but a Saudi adherent sees as heresey.
The bottom line is that this situation is a human injustice. No person should be imprisoned for expressing an opinion. No one should be whipped for something they say. And no religion, and I do mean No religion has any place as the primary legal system of government. It is an inherently biased and repressive model that will abuse people and prevent the realization of human rights.

Someone is being imprisoned and abused on the assertion that there is a god. Yet there is no proof of this. That is the point here. People should not be repressed, tortured, imprissoned etc.. based solely upon a belief.
The problem with religion is the unfailing ability of it to decide it is absolutely right and to use institutions to impose their opinion upon people, often at the point of a weapon or threat. That is where things go terribly wrong with faith.

The lesson here is simple friends. War makes victims of everyone!!
So what do we learn from this?
Finally. Both sides in WWII need to recognize that it was a terrible attrocity world wide. No nation involved is entirely innocent. Especially so for those who initiated the war.
Japanese need to accept the full responsibility for starting that war. And everyone downstream of that decision must accept responsibility for how the war was waged and for the countless lost lives. Above all we must all commit to never allowing such a conflagration to begin again. Simple enough if you put down your pride and nationalism and think about people first.

This isn't new. Just more distraction from the real problems we face.
As long as I can remember the FBI went after anyone with politics counter to the mainstream in the US. During the 80's often going after people who had issues with US policy in Central America. They painted these people as terrorists or as supporters of terrorists. When in reality most were just students who took issue with policies and tried to tell others about it.
It is just one more excuse to violate privacy and rights. Make a mountain out of a tiny pebble.

"America might not be pushed back to Pusan like 51' but driven out of the Pacific entirely..."
Nonsense. China is very far from asserting that much naval power in the Pacific. If they do approach that level, you can be sure that South Korea, Japan and other regional states will also step up naval warfare capabilities alongside the US for a block of allies that would make any such vision very hard for China to realize.
We can blame the corporates for much of this. Their trying to make a buck in China is feeding that nation's ability to build weapons and project power. It is something we will very soon regret.
Thankfully the working people of China are just as screwed by capitalism as the rest of us world wide. We should keep this in mind as the people of China are the greatest potential thwart to Chinese agression that exists today. They may well rise up in protest over the growing gap between haves and have nots in China. Not to mention their bubble that may soon burst.

Okinawamike.
"Mr. Reat should remember that when the next election rolls around."
You are clearly more optimistic than I am. GOP or DEM in the US, does it really fix things for working people? The GOP we know for certain doesn't. But the DEMS show no stomach for the necessary conflict to change things. Both parties work for the establishment and not for us. It is time for new parties and real change.
This, by the way, applies even more to Japan. Both major parties are a waste of space. We need a new political movement focused not on political party nonsense, but upon change and support of the working classes.

Working people, we are at war, please make no mistake about it. We are under attack by people who put profits ahead of everything else. Working people bear the greatest burden and receive the least for their efforts. And our political representatives work for the same people who are to blame for how bad things are.
It is time that we, working people of all nations, push back and demand that our governments represent us instead.
If you think that this is only the business of a few thousand activists, then you are missing the forest for the tree. This is about all of us and if we don't take this war seriously soon, working people all over the world will suffer even more than they do today.
So get interested, get involved and let's demand change!

I vote for Karma too. Too many spoiled rich yuppies flaunting their money by buying silly mid life crisis toys. At least they didn't harm anyone but themselves. Probably universal payback for the hands and feet they crushed making enough money to buy those cars.

Read between the lines here.
"goal is to start discussions" should read as "we are still thinking, about talking, about thinking about addressing emissions.
"as soon as possible" = Never
"Fair" = What we want and not what you expect us to do.
"effective" = As long as our corporate handlers don't see any dig into their profits.
"international framework" = something to blame failure on once we fail to agree to anything.
"Japan believes extnding Kyoto Protocol emission cuts is not nearly enough..." = Others are not prepared to do enough. But in the end, is Japan?
Posted in: Our ultimate goal is to start discussions and adopt as soon as possible, a comprehensive and legal document which establishes a fair and effective international framework.

The signs of war are growing. I have a great love for Iranian traditional culture and for her people. The tragedy here is that the people of Iran are not represented here. Only their tyrannical and insane current leadership, who I am sure are behind these attacks.
The innocent masses of Iran have tired in vain to remove this current government. They will be the true victims should any war come. And for the world it will be one more nation lost to ongoing, unending war and violence.
I sincerely hope some other solution can be found soon.

Serrano, if you are old enough to have been aware of politics in the Clinton era, then you should not have to answer that questions. Gingrich is the worst collection of attributes one could ask for in a president. And would be far worst than you can imagine.

Kidding aside.
Big, crowded and dangous poor urban centers where the legions of empoverished working class people will compete for tiny spaces. They will be here because there will be no jobs anywhere else. And since their civil rights would have long gone away, they may be compelled to do so.
Resources will be scarce (watch Soylent Green) and global warming will have made the climate too difficult for most rural places to produce much more than dust.
Political freedom will be the ability to work. Social freedom the ability to sleep. And economic freedom the capacity to eat and drink a little of the corporate owned water.
And this if the first world I am talking about. Can't even imagine the poor places.
