First step in increasing tourism: Remove the hefty tariff Japan imposes on each passenger on an international flight. That is nearly $600 now coming from the US.

Yamanouchi town is quite rural and seems there has been little encroachment into wildlife habitat since the Olympics. Very peaceful and serene place about 45 minute train ride from Nagano. It is the end of that train line.

I agree with BurakuminDes - except that even just a few says does not give you enough time to explore the many treasures of Kyoto. A week is needed, minimum. But I think I could spend a lifetime!

DiCaprio is a great actor. Shutter Island is an awful movie - perhaps Scorcese's worst. The trailer is deceptive in that it makes you think that this may be a paranormal horror/shocker but it is not. Chicago Tribune critic summed it up when he said: "Well acted junk."
