What a stupid question! firstly Islam is a religion! so are you asking if a certain religion can coexist with a certain culture?? well..what is the heck do you mean by Western world??
There seems to be some assumption made that Islam is seperate from a part of the World gepgraphically known as the West....some mixed up concepts here folks...leading to some mixed up answers....are we talking religion with religion or culture vs another culture or geography?? what about a person born in the West who becomes a muslim? then we have an example of perfect co existenece!

Better to compare Western world and Eastern world, or Islam and christianity, like with like...

anyway, assuming I kinda know what you wanna ask...

Islam, and many other religions already exist in and are part of every country in the Western world our history is woven with influences from all sides ...the mere fact that we see them as "over there" is a basic mistake!

Clarify your questions or you just encourage a bunch of ridiculous and ethnocentric responses

I have sympathy for such people who end up in these kind of occupations, attracted by the fancy dresses and seemingly wealthy men adoring them but then are the saddest victims of the whole game of irresponsibiliy and unacountability of the society.

The guys go there for trouble free/ guilt free fun...enjoy having pretty ladies around them...rack up extravagant bills to show ther manlihood..and some continue daily visits to keep up appearances and their Mojo fuelled. Some girls fall in love but are forever the mistress, never the wife - leading to deprssion. Some guys get roped in above their heads when treated as stars /studs by hostesses too ,so it cuts both ways.

What most dont know is that in top clubs (the most expensive ones) the whole traditional customer relationship ettiquette says that when the customer leaves without paying you cant "insult" them by asking for payment...a good mama-san takes it on the nose and assumes the long time and loyal customer will be good for the debt....even when those bills accumulate way beyonds their means!

A woman died, thats a tradgedy. RIP

Haha,,,yes thanks moderator..back on topic lads!

Come on people, even if you decide to be a stripper or walk the streets for money, no one expects a mum to be the instigator. The Mum is suppossed to be that last straw that may save a person from such degradation!

Some countries have solved this by legalising prostitution....

though still leaving the issue of age in this case....would it make prostitution OK as long as you are over 18?? its wrong either way.

The problem is that you do it once ,spend the money..then what? gotta do it again .and again. You become trapped in the vicious cycle and easy cash flow and thats where you go downhill rapidly.

Management is what the bloody problem is ! he admitted himself they were spending cash like no tommoroow....hello! Mr .biggie working in a space ship silver ball that glows at night over tokyo bay!....extravagance!

hopefully it`ll be restructured and improve efficiency...get rid of the top hierarchy ...not just getting cheaper pens...

Asian markets love the Japanese TV shows so get more outa that..tourists are flocking here to see that aspect of Japan...actors mangement agencies are bloody crooks too so they need to get a dose of reality

Japanese TV is nutty but see how US and UK shows are now copying their crazy antics!.....gambatte Fuji, bringa us more action sports and more TV...we are addicts

Just because the US bases create an economy in themselves it doesnt mean they should stay there.

Some locals want them out..and thats fair enough. They want the land back and the ability to do as they see fit with their islands. money or no money.

The arguement about the benefits Bases bring is a seperate issue.

The Consuls job brings with it such risks....he representsthe US interests so thats exactly the place to take your complaints!

politicians get eggs thrown at them..shoes...etc..its an occupational hazard. Cant expect to be an occupying force and get no stick from locals !

Although I dont agree with the method chosen, I reckon it probably has the most amount of direct psychological impact than reading stacks of paper reports!

This was really shocking at first sight but I think its become over blown in the press...even the teacher was sticking up for the students in the end. so that indicates she knows them better than we do and were not as viscious as the story sounded. probably one stupid ring leader....Sometimes kids jump on a bandwagon without looking deeply into things, just seems fun at the time. I dear say they have had sufficient talking to.

Japanese Ministry of Funny Affairs has issued a warning that all Japanese tourists should refrain from dressing as Fruit, Vegetables or Lollipops unless absoulutely necessary. but may continue to leave belongings unattended in public and display expensive cameras in full view of street kids. Thank you.

Yea I got drugged by the barman, he kept giving me drinks of cola all night and I didnt wake up until noon the next day.....watch out for that stuff called whiskey....

but seriously, its a shame that this is happening because the best thing about Japan is that you can go out for a good night without the fear of violence and crime to the same extent as other countries. Of course things happen in any town....but where im from you have to keep one eye on your beer and the other on everyone else...
