What a load of BS. It's all just a scam for gullible people (and their dogs)...

What happened to all the money to rebuild Tohoku?

Surely they should start buy donating the money to the victims/families so they can rebuild their lives. At the end of the day, it is the people of Tohoku who will rebuild it, so give them all the support they need. How are the worst hit victims supposed to survive after losing their home and employment? Most still have to pay their mortgage (home loan) and car loans (which got destroyed). Unfortunately for these people the disaster continues everyday, while those in government continue their warm, lazy, selfish and glutenous lives.

J Gov, once again you have demonstrated you are run by cold-hearted and moronic self-centered idiots... You disgust me...

Hang on, I agree with her. Regardless of race or nationality, why should anyone have to endure the foul stench of stale and repulsive poor personal hygiene? I say well done for having the 'balls' to say something about it. I would too.

It makes me sick to read these stories. I hope they catch them. As for the animals, being in a zoo (concrete prison) is cruel enough for these fellow earthlings. We all have a right to be free.

    The research is important.

That is my question. What is the research? What are they actually researching?

What 'actual' research do they claim to perform on 900 painfully slaughtered mammals?

@ huberts2: To tokyokawasaki - why do you suppose this?

Because this is Japan (T.I.J)... Where nothing creative (in business or politics) ever happens.

You can expect some outdated thinker and uncreative dinosaur to take the helm, and before you know it will all be back to normal.

Wow! What a paranoid and trigger happy society. It seems like the government has done a great job in making everyone nervous with it's BS 'imminent threat' and 'always be on guard' rhetoric.

Gibson Les Paul and a Marshall all valve amp is a match made in heaven. I doubt Onkyo will ever be able to get in on that act...

Vader said: "Luke, Luke, I know what you're getting for Christmas". Luke said: "Noooo. how can that be"? Vader says: "I felt your presence"? Oldy but goldy :) RIP Bob.

The academy’s visual-effects branch will watch excerpts from each film and select five nominees

They'll only watch excerpts? It's only 10 movies in total, why don't they watch the whole film? Also, who chooses the excerpts, and how do they decides which ones? Something odd here?

That's "regrettable"... But no surprises. Living in Japan you have to get used to morons being in places of authority.... The lack of efficiency and common sense is actually terrifying.

Hi Nicky, Love you too :) Happy New to you by the way and all of the JT regulars.

I am sure we will all learn something in this thread about the new immigration procedures. Some of it factual and some... well pure entertainment :)

@SpanishEyez37: I'm really shocked by this! I lived in Numazu before and I remember it being a quiet little town and safe. I hope the store manager recovers soon.

All towns are safe. It is people who are, or become crazy/dangerous.

Forgot to add, this can also apply if you marry and do not live together as a family. Not sure how they would prove this... (Unless they start spying on newly weds?)

"failing to engage in activities as a spouse for a period of 6 months unless you have a good reason not to"

Apparently, according to my visa lawyer friend, this is a loophole so the government can kick out those in fake marriages. (He says it is becoming a huge problem with Chinese and Koreans who are marrying J-girls for a cash payment, just to get a 3 year spouse visa, and divorcing soon after).

i.e. Under the planned new system, if you get married and divorced soon after, they can and will take away your spouse visa status and you will have to leave or apply for a new status (only if you qualify)...
