The AP is presenting this opinion as fact in the opening.

Because it is. Try to read and then light will dawn.

The journo-lists and the left-wingers are like a cult of believers.

Cult of believers are those who took their dear leaders word on Saddam being behind 9/11, stockpiling WMDs etc etc and went to a war where they lost 4400 of their own soldiers and achieved nothing.

Cult of believers are those who blame Obama for the economic mess, while totally ignoring the rot that set in during 8 years of moronic rule.

I can go on and on but it would be beyond the scope of your limited understanding.

How did Obama demonstrate his fierce opposition from the Illinois Assembly?

Do let me know where else you want him to have had shown opposition, at home, park, bar.......

Obama had opposed the war even before it began, anybody who really wants proof can check themselves. The 2007 vote which few of the posters seem to be harping about was symbolic, intended to pressurize Bush & Co to pull out of Iraq.

No one has yet shown anything that backs this up.

Reading is a good habit, you might want to take it up one of these days.

It just shows the AP and other neo-commie outlets are part of the Obama propaganda machine, and shows the hypocrisy that the left-wingers and other Demos believe anything the Party tell them, like the good comrades they are. :-)

Doesn't mean much does it? Random words thrown together with an odd 'commie' , 'leftist' in between.

The war is not over, but what is going to get over is the US troops active involvement in it. If this is not clear, the issue is not as much with Obama's acting skills, but more with simple English comprehension skills of people.

The troops are not only still in harm's way but they will be even more so till 2011, as they are not in active combat. Nobody denies this, but this is necessary to be able to pull out completely.

Ending the combat role is a good start to calling the troops back home. Obama is focusing on what concerns the country most, setting right 8 years of economic mismanagement.

RR: Bush and Co's game plan was unrealistic at the best with no understanding of Iraq's society. They were not even aware the country is divided on sectarian lines .

What exactly did he do to "fiercely oppose the war"?

Search the net and you'll know. Juvenile questions have no place in this forum.

The cab driver was slashed in the face and throat with a knife and the attacker was obviously caught with the weapon on him. So what part of the story is unbelievable? @man.... Or is it the fact that as a New Yorker you are privy to some information the rest of the world hasn't heard as yet. Do care to enlighten us.

This was well-publicized. Bloomberg gave millions of dollars from the mayor's discretionary budget to people and projects promoted by the city officials who had the power to overturn the term limit law.

Was it proved that he influenced NY council members through unfair means? Let me share an important piece of information you might have missed out as a New Yorker, there are laws down there.

Well done Carter, you did good. The biggest danger to diplomacy is nut-jobs like Aijalon Gomes who provide a bargaining chip to pariahs like NK.

Why is it that former presidents seems to get things done? Whereas, the current president can't?

Do you really expect the President of US to travel to a country it does not have diplomatic relations with?

The cab driver's whole story sounds made up.

Yeah, there should be a law requiring Moslems to have 4 witnesses to prove they were attacked, right manfromsomwhere?

As for the crook Bloomberg, we can see where the hidden millions in discretionary spending went to --> his personal buddies who changed the law so he could stay.

Dont bother to give any proof, we'll just take your word for it.

Given the shot to go out fighting I'd take it any day of the week.

Yup, I too felt like that, but then teenage got over. Anyway, there's a half-wit out there who tried to take out bin-laden alone, I think you need to share notes with him.

    The bull doesn't know that.

Pretty strange justification for torturing an animal.

And actually there are several arenas in Portugal and France that practice non-lethal bull fights using Velcro tip spears on Velcro pads taped to the bulls back and no swords, not my cup of tea but they exist.

Again an aberration , not a practice.

So do most living things what's your point.

I don't know where you grew up. Most people I know died peacefully ,others were surrounded by doctors and caring family members. No crowds cheering and baying for blood, no matadors sticking swords into them.

I guess I should be asking , do you really have a point?

My comment was in response to the post stating that meat cattle die an easier death, often that isn't the case especially if it's a new guy who just makes a mess, then it comes down to wooden cudgels and knives.

My point is that this would be an aberration and not a practice. It cannot be generalized to prove that a meat cow dies a worse death.

In a bullfight, the bull will always lose and almost certainly die.And it will die painfully each and every time.

Killing a bull for the sake of entertainment is not comparable to killing it at a slaughterhouse. The sport itself is brutal, in addition to the matador, you have banderillas riding on terrified horses. The horses do have protection, but I'm sure nobody explains that to them.

The only reason a bull is killed slowly is for the sake of entertainment.Sword thrusts to it neck, making it half bleed to death, then sharp sticks stuck in its spine. An then the guy in fancy tights comes in and shows his bravado by making the weakened bull charge at its cape.

Whether its a bullfight,a dog-fight or a cock-fight, they are cruel, barbaric and people who support them missed out somewhere in the process of evolution.

TheQuestion: I haven't worked at a slaughterhouse and don't intend to. If you think that is cruel become a vegetarian.

Agree--soon Asian cockfightings will be prohibited because of groups like Peta :(

Yup, the joy of watching cocks tear each other apart with blades tied to their claws is only matched by the sweet taste of bile in my mouth.

Ernest Hemingway wrote about bullfighting and the running of the bulls in Spain’s annual San Fermin Festival in his 1924 novel, “The Sun Also Rises,” and about the traditions of the sport in his later nonfiction book, “Death in the Afternoon.”

Hemingway was fascinated by death and his perception of manliness. He tried out bull-fighting once , which he has written about in "Death in the afternoon".A better account of this medieval ritual is in "Or I'll dress you in mourning". But Paul Theroux puts it best"In the bullfight the bull always loses"

Mistwizard: I grew up among normal human beings, where torturing and maiming animals was considered wrong. You are incoherent in the second part of your post, care to clarify.

wakarimasen: you want danger, jump off a cliff, no need to kill an animal for that.

Bullfighting is a cruel practice not fit to be called a sport, which has no place in a modern society. The excuse of it being "part of tradition" is pathetic.

MistWizard: The bull dies slowly and painfully, it is weakened by a stab nears its neck making it lose blood and then sharp sticks are driven into its spine.
There is no comparison to a killing a cow in a controlled environment.

People who take vows of celibacy don't suddenly find children attractive - these are pedophiles, pure and simple, and they would be abusers with or without vows of celibacy.

Not really, it is more about unnatural urges coming through denial of sex. It is like prison, homosexuality prevails because there is no other option.

Vows of celibacy go against the law of nature and should not be enforced.

But what was Saddam replaced by, bunch of swindling thugs bent on wiping out each other. And what did it result in, creating Al-Qaeda in a place where it did not exist.

Iraq is going to end up as a satellite state to Iran, lets see who will be laughing then.
