Japanese people are exploited as they never stand up for themselves. If bosses can treat their workers as slaves, they will and they do. It means more money for them. Let's see strong unions who are not up the bosses' a**. Let's see demonstrations, let's see riots and unrest. It's the only way.

Well I've been here for over 1000 years, give or take, and heard just about everything I guess. I'm not bothered by words one bit.

Is japanese easy or not?? Well all I can say is that I struggled to learn Mandarin to a reasonably decent level. Then I came to japanese and I felt it to be quite a step down in the "difficulty" stakes. So I would agree that"easiness" is subjective.

All the japanese people I ever talk to say that basically 3 things stop them having kids/more kids. Main one is the slave hours expected of Taro the salaryman. The salary man has to give up his life to the company and accept that he has no personal life whatsoever until retirement or ristora, whichever comes sooner. Will this, can this ever change?? The answer is a resounding NO. The slave mentality is too ingrained and bosses will never give up their slave army which provides so much free work. Secondly, is the extremely poor housing situation. Tiny cramped, expensive appartments where there's not enough room to swing a cat, let alone a baby. Again, this situation will never change. Goverments prefer to spend money on roads and bridges to nowhere, which line their fat pockets, rather than attempt to update the housing stock. Thirdly, the obvious lack of financial assistance and child care centers etc. After 27 years of a falling birth rate, the government has had enough time to do something about it if they had any desire to.

Basically japan's situation is truely hopeless. They will try to encourage immigration as a last resort, but who would want to come?? Not skilled workers, that's for sure. As someone mentioned, rubbish 1 year contracts don't exactly entice do they?? Not to mention the"fingerprinting" welcome at airports and inability to find anywhere to live. Japan will be flooded with low skill/low wage workers with all it's implication for crime and social unrest. Too bad, too late now, They brought it upon themselves.

Patrick exactly. The foreigner in japan is ALWAYS guilty, no matter what. I've even heard it said that the foreigner has to accept that he will be demasculated in japan as he CANNOT fight back.

Yes, tricky situation. If you had retaliated, as a foreigner, you would definitely be the one under arrest and facing prison time/a big fine. I would never, as a rule, get involved in any situation, as the crime of being a foreigner outweighs anything else. I've been involved in 2 martial arts for over 20 years and of course training gives you a degree of defensive skills. But nothing is guaranteed. I certainly wouldn't call japan a safety country. It's just the same as everywhere else. There are crazies wherever you go. You have to be on your guard at all times.

Hallo mate! It's just my humble opinion that the guy fled the country. Nothing more! And I referred to USA and South Korea because they are the only two countries, as far as I am aware, that japan has extradition treaties with. Anyway, let's hope they catch him soon. But I'm not holding my breath on that one.

So now the latest is that it's being suggested that Ichihashi is a back door merchant?? Irrelevant. I'm sure he was out of the country within days of the alleged crime, funded by relatives. Wonder which country though?? As long as it's not USA or S.Korea, he can't be touched.

There's no such thing as morals. The Lords of Society have created a world where the only thing that matters is CASH. Cash and yet more cash. We are all ordered to compete against each other, everyman for himself, to secure cash. Securing cash and the spending of cash has become the meaning of life. I agree with Daniel. Leave sex alone. We all enjoy sex and is one of the few "tax free" pleasures left.

Far too late. We've been screwing the planet for 250 years. When the last human infestation has died out, then perhaps the Earth can start to heal itself.

Long live the brave Tibetan freedom fighters in their courageous struggle against the chinese invaders. Boycott the invaders' olympics. Who needs it?? Anyway, the athletes can save their health by not having to breathe in the foul polluted chinese air.
