The answer is simple. We are human and we are not saints . . . yet. Human beings who are not yet saints can see only PART of problems. When they evolve to a certain point they see THEMSELVES in the problem, (the BIG picture.) An apt analogy is that when someone points a finger of blame at someone else there are three pointing back at the blamer.

Here is an opportunity for all the nature lovers in Japan. Plant berry bushes in areas of the mountain not frequented by humans. It could be a lot of fun for people to contribute effort or bushes or money to this cause. Just a thought.

Much ado about nothing. What is so terrible about showing respect for a titular Head of State? Obama's enemies are even more numerous that the gaffes they ascribe to him. The conservatives are whacko!

If the readers REALLY want to read a certain online paper that charges fees, then they WILL pay. However, the internet is rife with alternative information and data sources so what I will leave you with is; "Good luck with that!"

Considering the threats issued by the Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's call to have Israel,"wiped off the map", I do not fault Israel for doing ANYTHING to protect itself.

I voted for President Obama because I have great hopes for him and the United States. He was not my first choice however. At first, I switched parties to try to get Dr. Ron Paul on the presidential slate. When I saw that he could not make it, I switched back to Democrat so as not to waste my vote. I have a wait-and-see attitude. I, for one will be patient and tolerant. I think that President Obama's speech addresses many of our hopes and fears. God willing, he will be able to carry out his objectives.

If an artist has enough clout to get it, I say OK! If, on the other hand, artists depend more on the station's play for recognition, acceptance and sales, then I think the station is in the catbird seat and may not have to pay at all. Take it a case at a time. Why set an unnecessary firm policy?

That may be the "easy way out", but it's a coward's cop-out. Stay alive, face the consequences, PAY in Dollars, Euros, Yuan, Yen or in jail time. That way, one will have the possibility of making amends, reimbursing theft or "paying a debt to society". Suicide is basically sociopathic and antisocial behavior. It is a permanent solution to what may be only a temporary problem.

IF they have to pay for an extra seat it is on;y proper for the overweight person to HAVE that extra seat. No fair putting someone else in it. IF that happens, the charge for the extra seat should be refunded. The airlines should also make sure that the extra seat is COMFORTABLE for the overweight person.

I believe that Japan is a high-stress society. Far be it from me to suggest that Japan should make drastic changes but, that being said, Japan should make psychological help easily available in the form of anger management hot lines. Group therapy for people who are "stressed out" is a good deterrent. These ideas are only effective if the stress-challenged person wants and SEEKS help. Co-workers and neighbors could also be made aware of symptoms of excessive stress when they see it.

Charge them? Yes! Condemn them? OK. Sentence them? I don't think the International Criminal Court should sentence them . . .UNLESS it can carry out the sentence.

All fine, well and good. However, I believe we ALL have our priorities a bit skewed. The BEST teachers should be rewarded most handsomely, thereby making teaching the most sought after profession. The world would benefit from this.

This is not without precedent. Jesus told a parable of workers who were hired early in the day and who endured the heat of the day and workers who were hired near evening. The master of the field paid them all the same. When the workers who bore the heat of the day grumbled, the master said, "Why do you grumble if I choose to do good? Didn't you agree to work for the wages I paid you?" From this parable Jesus taught that many who are first will be last and many who are last will be first in the Kingdom Of Heaven (This is like a koan. What is the sound of one hand clapping?
