Smythe: I'm an expert in the industry. You'ved said it in a nutshell. People tend to mistake Design for Style. And some folks here are actually wondering why bother doing research at all... I once recommended that a major auto maker in western Japan repalce all dial and gauge faces with boat instrument faces. Familiar with them? The company almost did it but balked at the last minute. And they regretted all the way from the bank when disaster struck a month after the new model had debuted. 2000 customers (all over 50) returned their cars. Driving into the sun they couldn't make out a single dial face. In poor light the red digital icons seemed to multiply. In short sir the car was a right royal flop. The design engineers came sprinting to my desk asking for a quick but permanent fix. The bucket seat they'd blasted as unnecessary for the over 55 drivers was retro-actively installed into every vehicle. Apparantly what I had known from Florida research was that bucket seats offered the best driving support for aging drivers with back troubles. I really hope that the manufacturers will start to rethink the reason why they build cars. Please continue to enjoy your driving and riding.

What technicality? They committed no crime against Canadians. That is what I was saying the other day when I cited the problem of flaying flags of convenience.

elbudamexsomething - I'd be talking about Juarez if I were you. Yes the white person is the cause of the evil in ZImbabwe - like it or not. And for your interest Tsvangirai can attest to the fact that he was paid to destroy his own country. Now that he realizes what he was led into he is starting to get the picture - ZImbabwe is for the ZImbabweans, white and black. But it must be on the principle that every body has the right to own property, land and minerals. Currently that is not so. Black ownership of the items I've just listed is not legally accepted. Check with Britain if in doubt. There is no such thing as royalty payments to any blacks for minerals mined on land they occupy - there you have it, blacks can not own land so can not claim rights to minerals. Now is it so difficult for you to understand? Did you read the Yomiuri Daily today? It has a stroy from the LATimes about a black tribe in South Africa that receives millions in royalties. That is not the case with Zimbabwe. ANd that is a major point in Mugabe's continued fight for own land. Now how about your Mexico?

The economy is in a rut and they still don't get it. Remember the 'Ron Brown Express'? Clinton sent Ron Brown and a plane full of US business leaders to all the 'evil doer' countries and the result was major economic gain. Obama is representing the dying US multi-national. The Chinese have all but pushed it out of Africa - cobalt, nickle, platinum, coltan... all in Chinese hands now. Russia has reneged on most US contracts for oil and gas. Where then can the mining giants go to avoid the Aussie and British mega miners? South of the Border. Obama is on a do or die mission for Houston, Tulsa, Baton Rouge, Tuscon... the oil and oil field service companies are screaming, "Please go and get us back into Latin America!" Venezuela's oil and ranching, Cuba's oil and nickle, Bolivia's mineral salts and gas, Ecuador's oil and fishing.... I'd get down on my knees and pray he succeeds in this one if I were pro-USA.

How do we stop piracy around Somalia? Don't just run your boats through Somali waters without paying tribute - Japan doesn't allow other ships to run freely through Japanese waters - same for the rest of the world. Pracy is a form of tax collection. I don't agree with it but it's the direct result of disrespect for Somali sovereignty. Heck ships just ran up and down the coast dumping chemical waste and other crap for twenty years... the Somali's know which ships they target based on information collected over years. The cruise ships dump their waste along the coast, oil tankers cleanout their ballast tanks along the coast. Navys test fire their weapons firing into Somalia. How can people be wondering why this pircay is there?

Idiots! With a crew like this who needs a captain? This is exactly what the navy doesn't need. The ship should have been in convoy especially since they know the price of a US crew in the region.

Here's the reason Chavez has been so bitter towards the Bush regime - stuff like this has happened on a ergular basis and the Bush government whitewashed it over then called Venezuela a non-co-operating country. It hurts when you go out on a limb for a guy and he turns around and denys you when his friends are around. So many countries will attest to US government betrayal after years of covert and overt support.

Alphaape: I was in Angola in '83 - besides the Cubans, Soviets and N.Koreans guess who else was staying in the same complex with me? Tenneco and Gulf Oil personnel! We all sat down together (except the N.Koreans - they spent the time dusting their Benzs with huge feather dusters) to watch the sun go down drinking whatever somebody brought. The Cubans protected the US oil workers from Savimbi and Roberto Holden's men. The oil they pumped out of Cabinda went into the US airforce. The very planes that enforced the embargo against Cuba flew on A1-Jet Fuel pumped out of Angola under the nasty Cuban soldiers protection. Ironical? The embargo is a nasty business. You have no idea what happens at sea around Cuba. The Russians stopped trade with Cuba because the US said, "Take your pick - trade in the US market sphere or trade with Cuba alone?" Put it to you this way - Gorbachov is the most unpoplar person in Habana. He is the traitor of all traitors they say.

I have a question? When was the last time you saw an Iranian American journalist? This business of using people of the same ethnic, tribal or racial group to do espionage is troubling - most major countries do it. These stooges are so easy to spot - hence they're arrested every time. "Show me something you have published over the past year." How does a person who isn't a journalist respond? Al Gore's two Korean women nabbed by North Korea are a good example.

Morons! Sounds like Get Smart was their leader. There goes the insurance. Should the captain die these idiots will be accountable. Even if the captain comes out of it safely there'll be a lot of heads to roll.

Alphaape: you missed your vine there old chap. Cuba's problems are caused directly by the US embargo. Look up the meaning of "embargo" and see what it means. What rest of the world trades with Cuba? Cuba buys on the black market or through indirect swaps - the US turns a blind eye when the swap partner is a friend - Canada, Japan... the swaps are usually medical machinery - hoppers, sorters etc., bagus burners... You've never been to Cuba have you?

Skip: funny how the Afro-cubanos are the ones that have kept Castro in power. And funny how the Miami Cubans still discriminate against Afro-cubanos who flee the island - Miami is so bad to them they have to head to New York's Afro-hispanic communities. This is the mistake the US has never seemed to switch on to - Castro emancipated the black Cuban from medieval style persecution so not surprised the black caucus sees something of a respectable man in him.

The shoot down technology doesn't work. Why make a fool of yourself aiming for the flying bus and miss it with the world's media attention in full focus? Hey, unless Kim gives you the exact flight path and speed of the sucker you're going to make him look good on his prime time news.
