Seeing you fanbois getting all in a tizzy over some minor report (a "third" one at that) by some obscure British regulation body is great fun. A real gearhead pissing contest-woo hoo! As for me, I get more excited by seeing one of those big black rotary dial phones still…

Nothing like these cheap set piece articles to bring out the rabble from the woodwork, eh? Geez, just the sensational title just makes 'em drool like the veritable pavlov's dog. Granted, have to agree that TV is mostly a wasteland (where is not?- enlighten me), with TV cooking shows a…

Hey, Michelin is a business, and it's up to the consumers whether or not to believe their advertising. And advertising is basically a con anyway, isn't it? As for me, I'll stick to my favorite ramen shop and teishoku restaurant.

As ever on Japantoday some bad-faith comments slating Japan...

Nothing new. These problems have been happening for years. With all the elevated sections of track that have/will be built with concrete, there are bound to be a few contractors that have cut corners. Just keep your head up when walking under any dodgy looking structures.

Actually, you can still buy the lunch at Yokokawa station- there is a kiosk next to the station building, and I think they have a selling window on the platform side, so you don't even have to leave the station(though most do, as the line dead-ends here). And I second…

philomoscowitz and ninjazilla- the lady who trains Miss Japan contestants is French, and apparently selects candidates that conform to Western images/ideals of Japanese women, which differ from what Japanese people (and some expats, apparently) consider ideal. That said, Chibana is still the best of the bunch, confirmed by the fact…

Methinks those Italians are just sore losers and their fragile latin pride hurt because their colleague got beat out by ("mama mia!") Japanese. And why do they accuse the Japanese of "robbing" the Nobel Prize? Last time I checked the Noble Prize Committee which is responsible for selecting winners is…

Happy Flight- dumb name but at least it reflects conditions here- flying on commerical airlines in Japan is still reasonably pleasant. OTOH a US drama of same theme would be titled "grin an' bear it"!

Nice of Nikon to add a movie mode on a DLSR. But I wish camera manufacuturers (that includes Canon too) would introduce their products BEFORE the summer holiday season, rather than after. Now am nursing a bit of buyer's remorse...
