Noriega was a scapegoat and should be freed. The US knew all along what he was up to but only bothered to go after him when he started offering resistance to US demands.

My friend is Persian and under the Shah his father was the ambassasdor to Pakistan and later Afghanistan. He says that the biggest problem was that the US pressured the Shah too late to reform. Once people are in the street it's past the tipping point. He also says that much of the revolution was secular and that the religeous hardliners allied with these people to topple the Shah. After gaining power of course the moderates and secularists were killed. The main point is that the majority wanted the Shah gone but they didn't realise their movement would be hi-jacked by Khomenie's followers. Even today the majority of Persians would prefer a secular democratic government but they don't want outside forces to dictate anything to them.

Who was it that got his own EDS employees out of Iran? Oh yeah that's right, Ross Perot. Go watch "On Wings of Eagles" and you'll see why I still love the guy.

Isn't South Park all about blasphemy and irreverence? I think these poor Muslims would be better to just avoid watching it. By the way still funny as hell after 200 episodes.

The party crashers are just as bad as the worst of the Tea Party people. They must have something against free speech.

So the Tea Party will put up Palin and split the Republican vote giving Obama a second term. Conservatives should be listening to Newt Gingrich "it's the economy stupid" Had the Republicans followed his "contract with America" instead of going on a war fuelled spending spree the Dems would still be the opposition. The Republican party completely lost its way under Bush.

mokgohan: funny you say that I thought Hole was pretty weak as well, Love seemed like a drunk primadonna at the Chicago date. Ministry rocked the second one, saw them at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin. They played at dark and had this dude blowing flames over the crowd. The Jesus Lizard is probably my favorite band but Lollapalooza was the wrong setting, they aren't a reserved seating act. Saw them on New Year's eve this year in Chicago, their last reunion show. David Yow is still the ultimate wild frontman even at 50.

jeffrey: I'm not familiar with those structures but to the list add Frank Lloyd Wright's Imperial Hotel. Most buildings are pretty non-descript in Japan and people tend to throw out quality, beauty, and interesting design for new.
