I would say this is correct. The Japanese friends we had when we were living in the states sent their kids to public schools and developed friendships in the community. Mostly the husbands were too busy working to be the ones who planned play dates for the kids and such.…

I don't understand what the differnce in cost would be between expats and locals. Tokyo globally was ranked as being less expensive than Hong Kong and I believe Singapore just a few months ago in another study posted on here.

Sounds like a great way to mark your 15th anniversary. I have to wonder if Masako is so miserable why she doesn't just leave. I'm sure the household agency wouldn't like it but it would be a good message for women in Japan who are stuck in unhappy marriages.
