The Yaks are in deep with the construction companies. Any aspect of construction can involve Yaks, to include O'bentos, Oshibori (wet wash cloths), employees, materials, etc.
The skytree (horrid name) was supposed to be built without yak involvement. Apparently, it was a huge struggle and constant fight to operate without the Yak successfully asserting themselves.
Expect the Yaks to move elsewhere (drugs, strong arm robbery, smuggling gold up people bumm) to make up for the cash shortfall.

Funny, funny, funny.
Yea, I think I would have just made something common like a pc battery (suggested above) or golf club head.
These guys were really, Taking one (up the butt) for the team.

The NTA (J tax authorities) should check this guy out.
Talk is cheap. Ozawa's response was basically, oh it is my money.
Make him account for how he got the money. That large of an amount of cash should be relatively easy to ball-park the source.
If Ozawa can't account for the money, call it income and tax it.

Really, the guy made/stole 2 million yen on the deal. He isn't getting rich off of this deal, and as a government employee is not likely to be rich to begin with.
I just think he is just a dumb variety of criminal.
If he were a real criminal, he would have contacts who used this information and payed him cash in a paper bag. Maybe Ozawa has some tips.

It's already, with hacked drivers, both on WIndows and on Linux (my favorite).
Typical Microsoft, make a GREAT product (the Kinekt is IMHO the most innovative computer related product of the past years), and then lock it down to one device (the xBox). Kinect has so many applications outside the gaming world, it is beyond me how this lock was approved and how the other opportunities were not seen by Microsoft...
Agreed that this is an amazing product.
I see any move by Microsoft as benefiting itself. I don't think the lock was illogical or not a beneficial to Microsoft..
I think Microsoft delays in releasing it for the PC was to first gain a foothold with the Xbox crowd, where people are willing to adopt the next new fun thing.
Once the Xbox crowd adopted it and created an established market for something that previously had no market, it would be easier to push it to the PC crowd and dominate the world.

The police usually can find out who you are by tracking your IP address. As I recall, last year the police tracked some threats of violence to a Nintendo DS used in an internet cafe. Without some precautions, you can be found if you use the internet.
Still, in this case, the police could have merely met the guy at the hotel and made the arrest. The fact that they didn't make an arrest at the hotel makes me believe the police pieced this all together after the fact and resorted to their "interrogations" to get a confession.

CrazyJoeJAN. 11, 2012 - 10:23AM JST Thirteen members of Aum received the death penalty (finalized). None of the sentences has been carried out yet.
As I recall, death penalties are carried out without prior notice. The delay is probably just timing to spread out the deaths so that Japan does not appear so ruthless or as having reverted back to an Imperial nature.

"Hirata is also suspected in the near-fatal shooting of Japan’s top police official, but the high-profile case was closed last year after the statute of limitations expired."
How convenient. There should be no statute of limitations for capital offenses like murder or rape.

It smells fishy, and I would have laughed had he tried to make me believe these assertions.

The "Ostrich Defense", my head was purposefully in the sand, would not work in the Western world. Apparently, it already worked with the career prosecutors. If it had not been for the citizen jurors, this "incident" would already be swept under the rug.
However, as my wife always reminds me "This is Japan." So, I only expect an acquittal or a solemn apology for JPY400M in hard cash changing hands in violation of some laws against undocumented political contributions.
Why would Ozawa personally loan money to purchase property? There are banks more than willing to lend JPY400M to legitimate concerns. It makes me question the legitimacy of the cash and Ozawa. In his mind, he has done nothing wrong.
The presence of cash usually means those people who are getting paid don't want to have a trail of bank records because the payment broke some law.
In the US, I recall some politician was arrested for cash kept in his freezer. It couldn't have been very much money. Apparently, it takes several paper shopping bags to hold JPY400M in cash.
In the end, this incident will be a minor inconvenience for Ozawa. Rather than discouraging illegal cash payments, politicians and their supporters will be emboldened.

I think some of the problems women here have in Japan with raising children is that they are unprepared with the difficulties of raising a child. They just haven't developed the patience required.
My wife was taken care of very well by her family. She wasn't prepared for being a parent or being a wife. Life before marriage consisted of tea parties with friends, saving to spend on useless things (e.g., expensive snow gear for someone who skiied once or twice, paid trips for the family), and a simple low job with little demanded of her. Her ideas of being a wife and mother were a little too adolescent.
As a result, she doesn't have the temperment to handle a child, the disruptions, and the attention they require.
The husband probably tried to reason with his wife and called the police once it became painfully obvious that she couldn't be reasoned with like before.
I can only hope that more people take actions like this father and the J-authorities take these assaults on children seriously.

However a close look at cockpit design and ergonomics is required, if one ANA pilot can make this mistake, so could others.
Centrifugal force is a layman's understanding (i.e, not correct) of the real force at work, the centripetal force.
My physics professor is still echoing in my brain.

When the plane went on a dive, the passenger without seat belts would fly up and out of their chair. So, they probably got injured during the dive.
Not sure how much the passengers would have felt from the 130 degree turn. You have the pull of the turn creating a bit of artificial gravity, ala the centripetal force. They would feel a turn, but they may not know how hard the plane is turning or the fact that the top of the plane is is pointing at the ground. If it was a really hard turn, you could get pushed down a little, but your ears would not be able to tell you the angle of the turn..
Of course, I am thinking of a smooth turn on the axis. If the plane did a bit of a dive on the turn, people would get thrown upward and injured.

Still looks like the best hand held out there.
I have a DS and cannot get through a game before putting it down. My daughter likes the DS and the selection of kid-friendly games. The Vita appears too sophisticated for her and probably not enough games at this point for a five year old.
I would happily replace the DS with the Vita, but I just don't have enough time for mobile gaming.
Is is backward compatible? If so, that would be a huge plus. I would like to play some of the PSP socom series and maybe the god of war stuff...., but not interested in a PSP.
Also, is it region locked? I would hate to be limited to a Japanese online store. Or is it like the PS3, where you can have an account for the US and download games from there.
Will we have access to Netflix (if in US) and Hulu in Japan. I use my SonyErricson Xperia for movies, but having a larger screen with the Vita would be cool if I could do the same things with it.
Still a lot of questions, but it looks pretty strong.
Oh, the difference between a SonEricson Playstation phone and the Vita is a no brainer. I wouldn't want to play a Playstation game on a phone. In addition, I don't play games on my current phone, so for me there isn't any real competition between the platforms.

Upon further reading of new articles, VW thought Suzuki should buy diesel engines from them. I believe I heard the resourcing argument (VW buys engines from Suzuki and Suzuki subcontracted to Fiat) on a PBS Newshour podcast. I could be mistaken.
All news reports appear to say that VW thought Suzuki should buy diesel engines from them. I wonder if there was an actual agreement to that effect or whether Suzuki doesn't like the deal now that it is all looking bad for them.
We'll likely get to see this play out and find out what is what. Divorces are messy.

Actually, under an agreement, Suzuki was supposed to supply VW with diesel engines and instead outsourced them from Fiat. Suzuki was profiting from the deal and having to produce the engines themselves, as VW thought they should under their contract, would have left them with less profits (increased costs).
VW could have asked Fiat to supply the engines themselves and saved the mark-up (profit) charged by Suzuki.
VW bought 19% of Suzuki's stock, and Suzuki only bought 1.9% of VW's (not sure of the total value of those %).
Unless something else comes to light, VW sounds to be in the right, and Suzuki tried to pull a fast one and got caught.
Nice way to treat a "partner" there Suzuki.

I believe you are looking at a bit more than photoshop.
There are pictures circulating showing she has some regrettable plastic surgery. Her chin is quite unnatural and the implant will show quite ugly (her real chin appears below the implant) if care is not taken when the photo is taken.
Too much make-up is scary because you don't know what is real. This picture is a perfect case in point. Blow-up doll indeed.

I like Kan. He is personable and looks like he cares. He is obviously not a polished career politician. He does say really stupid things because he is not one, but I trust that he is honest and wants to do the right thing.
And I like the picture. I've seen one or two the last week where he had a great smile. Makes me feel good about him.
