The Fast and Furious 4, and a little less well known as The Gay and Bi-Curious 4.

Quite the contrast in ladies fashion.

Miyuki is very pale dressed in a dark gothic style dress covering nearly all exposed skin. The only thing missing is the burka.

Michelle is quite dark in a whitish almost country style dress with a lot of skin showing. Not quite fashable and rather homely looking outfit. Just missing the kids in tow to finish off the mommy outfit.

Yukio and Barack look like they have on the same clothes. Would like to see Barak's tie to confirm this point.

Must say that Yukio is a smart dresser. Quite the dandy.

Agree, there has been no test of a real jury until a jury hears a case where the defendant pleads not guilty.

Nice place. Went to a yakitori restaurant for a grand opening... Free dinner! Yea!

Great restaurants, they will give other restaurants in the area a run for their money.

Part of the problem, as mentioned before, is the bureaucrats. The problem is called the iron triangle, the bureucrats who want to keep their jobs, the people who are served and want the service and the politicians who put the bureaucrats in power.

Each is dependent on the other and perpetuate the whole system.

Nothing will change except more taxes and more deficits. Oh, and maybe some more papers to fill out.

Security is a big decider, so Rio may be out.

Tokyo has a lot of things to offer. I hope it is chosen. Should result in some nice changes near my place.

Chicago may win. It is not the best of the three because every venue would be spread around the city. I say they will win because of Obama fever. He's a celebrity and everyone wants to . . . emmm . . . cuddle up to him. Oh, they have Oprah pushing it too. Star power (Chicago) vs a great choice (Tokyo), Chicago wins.

Yea, they need a silly yellow poster on the train stations saying "do it at home" or something like that.

Really, this does remind me of the fool texting kids on the train in California. He missed a light and killed a lot of people. Train drivers should not be allowed to have a cell phone, period. They should have a business line associated with the train line.

I can only imagine all the trouble a cell phone can cause, web-surfing, texting, phone-sex.... Ban them for drivers.

I have yet to see any potential use of an ethernet connection. Great idea, but what use is it? I would like a VOD demand service. Anyone know of one? or how to use it?

I tried to purchase a star channel subscription through the on-screen menus (via the internet connection) and had to give up and call them. The phone call worked much better than the ethernet connection.

Nice tv's. Not a big fan of integrated products.

Tend to hate Sharp's digital video recorder. It loads terribly slow. Movies saved to disk may work once or twice. And because of the encryption, it is difficult to find disks compatable with the CDMA standards or players that will nor frustrate me without long load times.

My frustration would only increase with an expensive blu-ray blank disk.

Nice ideas, but the current encryptions kills the practicality of the technology, even it everything is legally copied off of a broadcast.

Sony has been denying the PS3 slim all along....

Finally. PS3 is a great machine. I love mine. Blue ray, online games, great mp3 player and AVI player. Wish I had two for each of my TV's. Just have to get that by the wife, who protested on initial my purchase. She now realizes the value when I run a movie off the harddrive.

If a government is willing to kill people with legal drugs (i.e., alcohol (8,700 deaths in 2008 in the US), tobacco (440,000 deaths per year in the US), and prescription drugs (320,000 deaths per year in the US)), why not legalize drugs that are not associated with such high death rates.

Marijuana has a zero death rate and has been proven to not only not cause lung cancer, but it may be able to prevent the cancers associated with tobacco, i.e., it has the some of the same cancer causing agents as tobacco but doesn't cause cancer, so it must have some protective effect (medical study from the University of Southern California).

The biggest obstacle to legalization of any drug is the current industries that profit from its illegality, namely the tobacco and alcohol undustries. Both industries would take a huge hit to their profits. Many states in the US are legalizing marijuana becuase it is not associated with health issues and the penalties are disproportionate with using the drug.

Another obstacle is the fundamentalists who think that nobody should do anything outside of social "norms". They want to mandate a social cohesion by eliminating anything outside their own norms. From a libertarian point of view, if you are not hurting someone else, then you should not be prevented from doing what you want, i.e., your liberties should not affect another's liberties. If they do, then what you are doing is wrong.

The current state of the law is too broad. It has created an artificial vacuum where bad things are inherrent. If the law were more libertarian, then we would not have "gangs" profiting hand-in-hand with tobacco and alcohol companies.

By the way, the US originally banned marijuanna because it competed with cotton and other textiles and booze. It was purely an economic/political move on the US' part. Later it was demonized to give everyone a scapegoat and to further support these industries.

On the other hand, drugs like meth still concern me because users are typically driven to steal to support their addiction. I like what the NE has done by providing the drug free to users. Undobtedly, people will use these harmful drugs, so it is best to allow their use in a way that keeps these high risk users in a controlled environment.

Moderator: Tobacco and alcohol are not relevant to this discussion.

The age of consent in the US varies a lot by state. In Florida, it can also be based on the age difference, so under 25 years old and 17 I think is not a crime. I think Missouri's and maybe Utah's age limits are lower than the rest of the states.

Oh, and consent by the minor or a mistake or lack of knowledge of the minor's age is no defense in the US. It is "strict liability". It doesn't matter if you met her at a bar, saw her graduate from school, or saw her ID. Hopefully, the rule is the same in Japan to protect the kids from lecherous people like this dentist.

By the way, I did see an article regarding a club in Shinjuku with teens who met older men for cash, bags and what not. It was eventually raided by the police since it was a essentially a front for pairing kids with adults for "indecent behavior". Surely there are more of these popping up to replace it since this avenue probably provides an easy route for these girls to obtain these sought after designer items.

My guess is that she ran for one of two reasons: (1) she hit the road to avoid the media and to protect her child, or (2) she hit the road to avoid a drug test that would surely come in this gistapo state. Presumably she was not with the drugged-up couple at the time since that drug is associated with sex and late night partying, so why should the police want to chase her around or even question her?

If she wants to be gone, then let her. Who yanked her license.

The theaters at Lalaport Toyosu are supposed to be the best in Tokyo. If I knew it was happening, I would have stopped by last night to see "batman" and certainly Ms Bloodgood who looks very...hot

I cannot understand the contract penalty clauses either. It must be mistated in someway because contract law normally does not support such a penalty.

I can understand actual damages like the investment in a particular advertising campaign that could not longer be used. More than likely, these would be very high costs and are limited contractually.

While I sympathize with space monkey for his losses, I am not prepared to logically attribute these sad events to pot. Clearly, driving while intoxicated (pot, alcohol, pills or lack of sleep) is asking for a disaster. Age and experience may also play a factor in a 19 year old crashing a car. For the friends in mental institutions, I have known a number of smokers and none of them have experienced deliterious effects. It in all likelihood increases the risks of schizoprenia by a miniscule amount and no more than other common medicines, like asprin.

Most of the legal opposition to pot is a result of commercial protectionism. Ask Asahi brewery if they want pot legalized. What would be the answer?

The major risks with pot are apathy. But I feel that those risks are a personal choice. Pot is not addictive, as many here are trying to state. It is more of a choice. I have seen many, otherwise normal, people choose to stop.

In terms of public education, the Japanese government appears to be taking the fear mongering a little far. I recall the US "just say no" campaign where they showed a commercial with a surgeon smoking before cutting one someone. It was an extremely laughable commercial because everyone knew that the doctor would be abusing morphine or some other deadly drug(s) rather than pot. It appears that the Waseda crowd doesn't believe the disinformation.

Oh, and Moderator, a discussion of pot should include other drugs and alcohol since they are legal and comparison with them is appropriate to understand the risks and rationality of current laws and perceptions.

A mixture of the Japanese appreciation for nature and advanced technology. I suppose I am not opposed to the idea if they are trading in a gas powered tour vehicle for something a little more personal. At least they can cover a lot more ground this way and don't need to be expert hikers to participate in the experience. Probably one of the better uses of a segway.

My thought was do they earn enough to eat let alone live a "stars" life-style. I have heard of three person bands having trouble making enough money to split between the members. Probably a lot of extra-opportunities to earn money on the side.

They'll be working at McDonalds by the end of the year.

There is an IMAX theater near Shinagawa at the aquaruim. It is a short walk North of the station. Not a bad idea, but they probably will not bring it here.
