I can imagine it is the shrine for the Okinawans and not a shrine for the Japanese soldiers (there are many there), who also helped to invent Okinawan Karate by banning weapons and therefore encouraging the "open hand"ed technique.

I much prefer Karen Allen to that harpy who was in #2. What a mess of a movie.

    That "harpy" is Spielberg's wife.

I saw a semi-complex attorney movie recently, Michael Clayton. It is a great movie with great dialog. Although it was a law movie, it was engaging and hopefully not incomprehensible to layman English speakers.

I could only think of how it would be butchered by Japanese subtitles or voice overs replacing three sentences of meaningful dialog and outright prose with Sagoi, Hai, Saicou, Warui, Hidoi, Kakoui, etc.

I have never subscribed to dumbing down society. If they don't understand it, get the dictionary out. Otherwise, the addage "you are what you eat" will apply.

Unfortunately, the movie distributors are in the business of selling; the consumer are not willing to educate themselves; and the picture based written language doesn't lend itself to readily communicating new information.

下取り is called "trade-in". We also call it "getting ripped off".

I remember seeing an elbowing guy on the Keio line. It isn't too far off the Odakyu track. The incident was maybe two years ago or more. The whole, this is my elbow space seems very familiar. I wonder if it is the same agry ass. He was rather large and had the Yak look。

Nice looking running shoes too. I don't know why I sense a bit of Elvis there too.

My question is why the communist looking caps? Are these the same Chinese guards carrying firearms through london? Do they have firearms here too?

Does it take a foreign person to actually force society to redress these crimes? I could not imagine a Japanese woman having the temerity to address any injustice encountered in Japanese society. What Japanese person asks doctors, politicians, or other government officials questions or to justify or explain their actions?

I hear that socially Japan is 20 years behind the modern world, but stories like this make me believe it will take 80 years to bridge the gap.

Great picture. It is good that people can play in public. I can't always agree that the singing works out, but they all seem to be decent at playing instruments.
