Japan is circling the drain politically, economically, socially, everything-ally, but the press get to write of a rare police success story of catching a dastardly villain quickly! Don't underestimate the "feel-good" factor here...

Do people really jab the screens so hard that the people in front feel it? I think they are more likely to gently push it for fear of breaking it?

The more rights you claim, the less freedom you have.
Posted in: Does freedom of speech include the right to yell "Fire!" in a crowded theater, yell "Shark" at a beach or joke about having a bomb on a plane, for example?

With all the costs of berthing, licenses and upkeep, it takes an awful lot of money to own one of these, compared to a boat in the UK or USA.

Both the Shangri-La and the Mandarin Oriental down the road from it seem to specialise in making guests feel as uncomfortable as possible. Stayed at both last year; it's hard to relax at those places, they are just too formal, the staff look down their noses at you, despite you're paying top prices for their services. As AB said, there are nicer places in Tokyo...

A number of ex-731 members have confessed to their activities as they were close to dying, in the hope of obtaining some form of forgiveness/ absolution. The author Rumiko Nishino held meetings around Japan where many came forth and spoke of what they had done; the bizarre surgical experiments, live autopsies, and the rest. Many are documented in her book. There is a unique memorial in a park near Kokubunji, in West Tokyo, where they meet each year.

The stricter forms of Islam forbid the rendering of the human image, hence the elaborate calligraphy that comprises most of its art; so it may be a long, long time before they start making their own films. When Saudi Arabia started up it's own TV station, they had to get a special religious dispensation to allow live pictures to be sent over the air.
Maybe those countries with less strict interpretations and a more modern outlook can do it...

Already use the Panasonic EVERLEDs in the office and at home. Their bases get VERY hot after 12 hours continuous use - obviously the high heat dissipation technology - but it can also be dangerous in enclosed spaces or ceiling fixtures - there is a small warning on the box. They also can't be used in dimmable circuits, they are really bright, but also give quite pronounced shadows.

Should be a comfortable flight - only 407 seats. Flew on a Lufthansa A380-800 last year, 120 upstairs, and 440 cramped like cattle into the lower cabin. The seat pitch was just about from my elbow to my finger tip. Never again...

One problem is that Islam ( or the scholars who interpret it) bans so many things, that for many in the Middle East, there is little of interest left or to talk and write about. Virtually no sports, no mixed-sex dancing, no taking of human images, no drinking alcohol, no dating, no going outside unless covered up and with a male member of your family; it really does not give a lot to write about within the Hollywood genre.
The milder forms of Islam practised elsewhere in the world do offer a variety of topics of interest, with less stereotyping; but the silent majorities rarely attract attention.
