    adaydream....

And I have watched a tyrant run nation and region given a new opportunity for a better future ! I have also witnessed thousands of America's, and other nations, enemies cut down at the knees with no chance to bully, harrass, or intimidate the rest of the planet ever again. I have seen the USA do what other nations "could do" but simply refused to out of pure selfishness and greed. I have seen the US criticized for its efforts by less intelligent individuals and insecure groups... who now refuse to admit their shortcomings ! I have seen the ugly side of life outside the US... We Americans maintain our democracy, our freedoms, and our way of life. We Americans need to thank our commander in chief for continuing to provide such ! You non Americans... best get on board or brush up on yer Koran, you decide !

Japanese consumers continue to get fleeced by every domestic market imaginable ! Dairy, meat, fish, fruit, etc. Farmers have logged onto a gold mine here and they aint lettin up ! Imagine $5.00 for a cube of butter !!! Hell the same product, twice the size, sells for a couple of bucks stateside ! This is simply amazing. And why the J gov hasn't stepped in to put a stop to it ??? Mystery of the century ! In a nutshell, this is what is so wrong with Japanese culture... think about it a bit before responding ! The silence, the bullying, the lies, deceit, honne/tatemae... all made in Japan ! Enjoy yer lifestyle Japan, you've earned it !

    Ludicrious ???

What I think is ludicrious is all you "outsiders" that think you somehow have a privelaged ear into the inner workings of the White House ! Bwahaha ! You seem to hang on every announcement, speech, discussion like it is somehow the gospel ! Get real folks, there isn't a single politician around the world that tells "you" the real poop ! You have no idea what is happening ! You never had, you never will ! And thats the way it should be ! Ludicrious indeed !

    BTW...

"Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corp is recalling 68,141 Fuso trucks made between November 1994 and April this year, due to insufficient strength in parts that fix shafts to truck bodies. The company warns that the shafts, which transmit power to the rear wheels, could become unattached."

Anyone know the after-affects of such a "detachment" ??? again, this was designed way back in 1994 !!! Why the delay ??? Didn't MF go through a major investigation and corporate overhaul less than 5-7 years ago ??? Why didn't they admit this then ??? Why wasn't it found ??? Where are the consumer safety groups protesting ???

    I say shut-em down !!! For good !

Campers... we are not discussing whether or not recalls occur, they do. The problem is that Japanese companies are more prone to delayed, like 4-8 years, recalls because of Japans corporate culture that encourages it. In short, there are no good points to admitting fault in Japan ! Again other nations have active campaigns to encourage "whistle blowers"... Japan ??? I dare say no ! This is why you get soooo many scandals here in Japan. Auto's, food, medicine, the nation is overly corrupt due to it's policys, plain and simple. These three automotive companies making these recalls all on thesame day, same circumstances... you think that is a coincidence ??? Bwahahaha !

    Typical Ossan response...

"This kind of thing happens to all automotive manufacturers."

Which makes it OK ??? You seem resigned to accept the lies and deceptive practices by Japanese auto manufacturers because "everybody does it" ??? I disagree ! Other nations employ more realistic and balanced approaches to how they punish firms for shoddy performance. Japan doesn't ! Japan goes for the throat with public humiliations, fines, and ongoing press coverage of boxes being removed, tabloid exposure. Other nations encourage employees to come forward with such acts against the populous... those people are even protected by specific "informant" laws. Japan doesn't ! Japan's culture of punishments and rewards is totally out of context with the rest of the planet. Workers are not encouraged to step forward and admit wrong doings by their companies. Subsequently, these acts will continue in Japan and anywhere Japanese companies operate... hell even Toyota in the US had exported the J style of hiding mechanical defects and things like sexism in the work place. Fortunately the US workers took control and put a stop to it. Japan Inc. still has soooo damn much to learn !

Actually some14... the fault lies in "the system" ! One that encourages deceptive practices and falsehoods. In short, admitting to these defects and shortcomings early on has huge consequences. It's better to just sit back, make yer profit, and wait a few years down the line to admit wrong doing. You then make a recall... most cars are about to be dumped for "shakken" reasons anyway. See how it works ? I've talked about this before. The problem with the J system is the penalties are so severe that they encourage half-truths and bold faced lies. These are further examples of the problem with Japan's industrial culture.

More crap from Japan's auto industry !!!

First, why the hell is Mitsubishi Fuso still in business ??? Are j consumers so blind and stupid or just actively practicing "nationalistic" spending habits as explained by outside sources when confronted with these illogical situations. In either case... wake up ! These products kill !

Second, why are these companies allowed to flood the markets with defective products for 3-4 years without any concern to the public. Fact is, these problems should have been discovered at the "design" stage... not out on the road ! Where's all the little math wiz's Japan supposedly produces each year ? Why can't they, and the mechanical engineers, do the simple math and find these defects before they are sold to consumers ?

Finally Honda ??? WTF ! With all the focus on CO2 gasses you'd expect them to be overly cautious of nitrogen oxide levels... but noooo ! Screw the consumer, screw the planet... just give us our money ! Yep, Japan Inc. alive and well !

once again McDonalds is gonna make a mint ! The Japanese love everything about this food chain, and at 100 yen a pop you better believe the competition can't keep up. Wonder why that is ? I mean why is it the American products and companies are able to keep prices down and innovate like crazy in Japans markets... yet the Japanese run companies can't ! When is Lotteria gonna give me a steamy hot burger ? when will MOS learn to lower its prices and serve its customers in a timely fashion ? When will any J run operation stop price gouging it's clientele ???

Is this news ??? I mean didn't Reagan make a career out of pretty much doing the same thing ? If only the rest of the worlds leaders were so wise. I mean what the hell has Fukuda done to encourage the Japanese to get off their collective duffs and make things happen ?

    "westurn are you crazy?2

no, just honest... like these folks:

"Not really a very interesting mountain to climb"

"Mt. Fuji's the kind of mountain that you admire from afar. Up close though it's nothing special."

"Aah yes, the good old "渋滞", traffic jam to the top."

Not crazy, terusensei. This picture speaks volumes about the experience... hot at the bottom, freezing at the top, mud in July, dust in August, crowds-crowds-crowds ! And you loved it ??? Bwahaha ! Try the worlds #2 most climbed mountain for a real experience with nature ! Yep, the cascades are wonderful... and no vending machines or ramen shops along the way !

Sorry... but blaming subprime is getting old. Fact is Japan's economy has been in the toilet long before the subprime issue came up. Japan has continued to rely on large scale construction projects to stimulate it's economy but with no luck. The old strategy simply doesn't work when domestic spending is held down by issues such as the pension, unemployment, government scandals, rising fuel prices, and a declining birthrate ! try some of those on for size and you will quickly realize that J consumers are simply not interested in risky land or building purchases ! Nope... nothing to do with the US, subprime, etc. Japan refuses to address the real issues and subsequently will continue to sit back and watch their beloved economy fall further into turmoil. Empty buildings, office glut, outrageous prices for purchase and rent... Japan is one huge train wreck about to happen... and they insist on blaming others ! What an immature nation and poor leadership we are witnessing here ... sad indeed, but, you get what you pay for.

BTW... Shouldn't any country that depends on the USA for it's "National Security" be ranked in a similar position with them ? I mean how can you logically argue that Japan is way more peaceful than the US when it takes advantage of US policies around the world... policies that are deemed agressive by this study. I would add Korea, Canada, and much of Europe (as they benefit considerably from the US military presence there !

just another crock JT article, good to see the masses have skipped this one.

"Why is the U.S. ranked so low?"

"the high possibility of a terrorist attack on the mainland.2

    Huh ??? For example ???

"In addition, the number of prisoners per population is the largest in the world."

Maybe if the US did like Japan and just refused to investigate thousands of "unnatural deaths" a year, their ranking might rise accordingly !

"availability of guns are also factors in America’s ranking."

Yet nations with "mandatory gun ownership" laws ranked in the top 10 !

Another bogus survey/study to get the American bashers something to crow about... Nothing but flawed thinking !
