England is the logical and emotional choice. Home of the best stadia and the best league in the world, oh, and the home of football, too.

But not to our dear friends at UEFA and FIFA. Try telling that to Monsieur Platini!!

AlfGarnett- The requisite is that they need 12 stadiums that have a minimum, 40,000 capacity. Last time I looked Upton park can't hold that many. From a historical point of view 'Old Trafford' or 'Celtic Park' have to be two of the finest stadia in Britain as they have never moved location and yet hold a vast swath of spectators. And when they say England for the world cup, I'm sure the 'Millennium Stadium' in Cardiff will be used too, making the occasion a unified British event would it not!! Nevertheless, I would fly back home for 2018, should we get the world cup. Bring on the Germans - Penalties, Semi-final!!!!

Ford spokeswoman Jennifer Flake said the company will use other ways to make Japanese car buyers aware of its vehicles.

We know about American cars thanks, and frankly it's the reason why we don't buy them!!!

Wakarimasen - If you look at all the European supercars, the superlight versions are around 5-6million yen more expensive than the standard version. Lamborghini, Ferrari and Porsche all do it. Nissan is by no means different.

Answer: NEC’s new store clerk robot, which the company hopes will be able to eliminate the feeble errors and useless excuses associated with flesh-and-blood part-time staff.

    Somebody's realised then have they!!

As for it being a case imposing Western nanny-state mentality, tell me about it, cars should be able to drive at whatever speed they like, not nanny-state imposed speed limits.

Goodjorb, Nanny-state imposed speed limits were introduced to curb the the carnage (read accident rate) on the roads. It was further increased as the oil shortage/fuel crisis during the early 70's.

The accuracy of NEC’s voice recognition software under noisy conditions has been significantly improved, while the size of the device has been considerably reduced.

As is the norm with all the technilogical devices, it will only recognise the one accent. Do you think it would pick up a broad scouse accent, I think not!!!

Living just west of Shinjuku, I find owning a car is reasonably priced in comparison to my home country, the UK. Petrol is relatively cheap, car tax is averagely priced and the state of the roads are generally okay. The beauty of it all though is how cheap the insurance is. I'm paying around half of what I alone paid in the UK for myself and my wife for a similar car, even though I had a 3yrs no-claims bonus. The only pet peeve I have is the damn shaken. Though in relation to where I have come from, I don't see the fuss. Japan, if somewhat pedantic, is relatively cheap in comparison to other industralised nations across the board. When you grow up seeing almost half of your wage disappear in tax and National Insurance, it's a real kick in the teeth to have to pay massive taxes on everything else. E.g. Petrol, until recently was over one pound a litre. Predominately tax!! Again though, if you use your car properly, in our case my wife uses it to facilitate our soon to and from school, shopping etc. it is not so costly.

Japan Today - As ever, quantifying that everybody who lives in Japan is American. Like we give two hoots what those in the US have to pay for their less than satisfactory services! Try featuring something that affects everyone as a whole, not the Yank community only as is usually the case in this country. That or make the topic title more specific. e.g. Americans - Pack light or pay up for holiday flights

Moderator: You're not the best judge of what stories are suitable for Japan Today. In the first place, more than 60% of our readers live overseas and a significant percentage of that live in North America. Furthermore, for any other readers who are visiting the U.S. and planning to take domestic flights, this story will be relevant. A very poor contribution from you.

warner has done so much for the entertainment industry, youtube should play ball

Why should YouTube play ball? YouTube are simply cashing in on the supply & demand that it's founders created. Get creative Warner, compromise to be on the ladder of new initiatives or sink like the Titanic.

As is ever, Japan has no initiative of it's own and relies on plagiarising other nations great achievements. TT is a truly horrid looking thing, and even though I see it on a daily basis I sure as hell would not squalor the fee of umpteen yen to scale it's heights. I can only imagine the view of 'concrete city' would be far worse up there than it is at street level.

This should be a lesson to all really about the demons of drinking. It seems that, as is given here in Japan, such problems are brushed under the carpet rather than hitting them head on. Pardon the Pun. I really have to ask though, where are the graphic commercials that will be hitting UK TV screens, and other nations most likely, at this time of year warning us about the evil drink. I guess this would go against Japan's corporate policy of protectionism. If only the Japanese knew what the rest of the world does, there would be a riot I feel!!
