**And, really, aren't most companies in the import business? ** companies are in the import business to get the materials required o make the products they sell , or necessary items like food / oil. Importers of foreign made goods eg car electronics etc just sucks money out of Japan, not to mentions the 100,000s jobs and tax revenues lost as a result. Japanese exporters actually make Japans trade surplus and keep jobs tax revenues in Japan, all major world economies were built on manufacturing exports, NOT IMPORTS. So please all the importers complaining unless your business creates surplus wealth domestically in Japan as a result of your imported materials/goods you not really helping the J-economy much

pass through Indonesia on their way to Australia. Indonesia is safe, why don't they stay there? and here lies on of the problems, Indonesia gets annoyed when Australia sends them back from where they last came, almost always Indonesia. Yet the Indonesian gov does very little to stop them entering or leaving Indonesia in the first place. Do these refugee advocates complain Indonesia is not taking them or bumping them off to Australia. No Australia policy is correct, it makes Australia an almost impossible place to settle if you come illegally. people won't waste their money attempting a dangerous journey if they know they have no chance of staying in Australia, and the boats have almost stopped coming as a result. well done!

They sure do like to cry when it's not them doing it, and cry foul when they are told it is. and so does every other major currency, and yes they all manipulate their currency either directly or stealthily. If the hate it so much why don't they just make it illegal. somehow I doubt anybody wants to do that so they continue to just point the finger at each other and complain

Exporting companies need to get off their rear and innovate, instead of relying on a weak currency. domestic, import retail companies need to innovate and stop getting a free ride by the exporters, after all its the exporters that make Japans trade surplus. Japans Germany US etc almost all major economies were built on exports/manufacturing

What a joke! Basically saying we are illegally going to manipulate the yen then tell the rest of the world we are not. what many still fail to understand currency intervention ISNT ILLEGAL, it's only frowned upon. why isn't it illegal because almost every major currency does it either directly indirectly stealthy. Nobody wants to illegalise it as that would remove tools that they can use to make themselves competitive instead, they just use a mutual agreement. LOL

Look- double the minimum wage. raising wages, in general, is the same as QE but with positive results while I'm for raising the minimum wage , unfortunately it'll just make more unprofitable companies go bankrupt (not always a bad thing) and the ones that have thought about moving production to cheaper countries to do that. means more job losses and zero tax revenues as a result. sound easy in theory but as we know every major decision has ripple effects

“The U.S. Air Force has two solutions: either not to fly near our borders or to turn the transponder on for identification.” well, its a little hypocritical when long-range Russian bombers do the same, one was intercepted over the English channel not long ago, they never answer radio request and also fly with their transponders off.

this pretty much sums up Japan all the way back to WW2, Japan had a superior naval fleet to the US, but it was superior tactics that defeated the Japanese naval in key battles of the pacific war. same thing has happened with the French on this sub deal

Japanese government's addiction to spending LOL US is pretty addicted too last time I checked, and how is the US going to nudge Germany down this so-called right path!? Germany hides behind the weakness of the Euro, Is the US going to sanction the whole EU to get its way. and what China is the US going to have a trade war with the Chinese to get its way!? No the US can huff and puff all it likes if they were so against currency manipulation they would have banned it decades ago. certainly can't have something banned that the US itself has found so useful in the past to make itself competitive.

**Australia never welcomes asian immigrants but taking advantages from Asia especially China. ** you seriously know F all, Australia has about 24million people, 1/4 of all people living in Australia are foreign born, over 6% of the population 1.4million are from Asia, India/China making up the majority of that group.

look get over it people hundreds of thousands of factory job and given way to robotics, nobody liked it but companies cannot compete if there competition has robots and they dont. Driverless cars is just another step in the ladder, Im fine with driverless cars as theyll certainly have a lower accident rate as a human drivers which means a safer ride. imagine you could basically be driven non stop (except to stop for fuel) 12~24hrs and not have to worry about you or your driver getting sleepy, and can you actually sleep on the way. The car will never sleep , never speed, never run a red light. I personally cant wait.

Of course you are right... but in the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. and that perfectly sums up the US, perfectly fine with having one eye as long as everybody else is blind.

All the US is saying is that it wants to compete on an equal playing field which it quite clearly is not and these 5 are the leading perps of many who have made it so, what a pile of doo doo, the US just want the illusion of an equal playing field in which they have an advantage. The US is the biggest trade and currency manipulator of them all, they're just the best at doing it stealthily.

Scary thing is that US recently passed a bill that enables US off its debt from the country who US finds as a currency manipulator. US holds lots of Japan's US treasury as hostage. and so does China, what is the US going to do not repay those debts!? China/Japan could stop funding US cheap debt, their interest rates will rise and crash their economy. US struggles to pay just the interest on the Japanese / Chinese debt. China could easily say ok you wont repay well just tax/tariff all US companies manufacturing/doing business in China, it'll take the WTO 18months to make a decision who's wrong but the damage will be done. The US seems to forget that Japan/China especially China have equally damaging trade weapons at its disposal as the US does, most things American buy is made in China anyways
