This was perhaps the one major thing I didn't like about living in Japan. Even though my place was a gokiburi war zone, it didn't stop them from coming. Sticky traps were pretty effective. Gassing the apartment worked for a while, but it was unpleasant to say the least. This entire thread sends some unpleasant shivers down my spine :p

Banning seal hunting is out of the question because the French aren't going to stop eating foie gras. Seal meat is mainly eaten by the Inuit way up north. I can't remember seeing it on a menu in Vancouver, Toronto, or Montreal. The industry is sustainable, the EU just don't like the way Canadians kill them. Unless all that time the Canadians were conducting 'research' on how to humanely kill them.

He should be a loan shark then.
I say kudos to him. We're all sick and tired of these career criminals who know they can get away with anything. Going to jail is like going on a holiday for them. Free food and shelter. I'm sure he'll do well after all this publicity.

The woman was picking up her dog's crap. Good for her. The father had his kid on the leash to prevent him from patting the dog's dirty butt.

The question now is what was said between the dispatcher and the police. It seems the cops were all psyched to take down a burglar. Was it a case of racial profiling? Perhaps. Here's my take: The scene was located in an affluent town that is populated by whites (though governed by a black mayor). When the cops arrived they saw a black man who didn't immediately fit the profile of the community. First instinct...black man = burglar, rather than black man was the home owner and a Harvard professor. Sounds like racial profiling to me. It was unfortunate that it happened, and hopefully everyone can move on.

Did any of you actually watch it? It was quite gross in my opinion seeing food bits and liquids squirming out of their mouths and nose(?). Certainly made me lose my appetite for hotdogs for a very long time. Bring on the Burgers!!
