Shrug. The history of the islands is not important. Nor is the moral implication of these claims. That's just western thought, based only on "ethics" and not material gain.
Geopolitical means to gain more land, no matter how insignificant, is the real game. And China intends to win this game.

The compensation they are talking about are official compensation. Those were all turned down by China, Taiwan and Korea for political reasons, but it's not the same compensation the victims are talking about. The comfort women want civil compensation from civilian courts.
Either way the whole WW2 atrocity thing isn't about morals or apologies or whatnot, that's just naive outsiders who think they can think like Asians. It's 99% about ego and ethnic pride. The issues are just the tennis balls. I grew up in China and there wasn't even a fraction of the anti-Japanese sentiment today until the economy really got going. It's nationalism, and it's good. The gory details about massacres and rape are not important from a realpolitik standpoint.
If Japan's leaders had half a brain they'd know the way to solve this is by
Pity their version of nationalism is the dumbed down, rigid old men who can't do anything right kind.

Nope. Abe is just another old out of touch guy who'll focus on useless things.
Japan needs YOUNG nationalism, like China is experiencing right now.
Flexible, pragmatic, and so widespread our liberals cower in fear at even speaking out.

Absolutely. Just not yet.
If Japan and Korea paid allegiance to China I'd support them both having nuclear weapons.

Old men don't know anything about public opinion. Japan's deadlock within its own factions and government branches means nothing gets done. Score 1 for authoritarianism.

Sure is fearmongering in here
You're supposed to use a filler material with polymer absorbents or it coagulates right away - sawdust and newspaper is standard fare. And yes, it is used in diapers. What's the problem? Obviously it's not a constant flow but a pool from earlier spraying, so using the absorbent first is the right thing to do. But you know, don't let facts get in the way guys

Screw "the company" just nationalize it, right now. By force. State capitalism is always superior to private enterprise.

The risks from nuclear power is minimal and has already been worth far more than it has killed. Wanna try living in the real world sometime? It hasn't even been a month yet and most food warnings have been dropped. All were precautionary to begin with. This isn't even Three Mile Island. Core containment is intact. Iodine has a half life of only 8 days. Cesium is localized. Plutonium in irrelevant quantities. Even if every single drop of waste water leaked into the Pacific the local dispersal alone would make the quantity insignificant to human health, that's taking food chain accumulation into account.

This is why democratic nations are weak. In China the government would've taken FULL control of the situation immediately, to hell with due processes and disputing factions. You can balk all you want about "rights" and "freedoms", but that's irrelevant when faced with a system that WORKS.

Because the average person is an idiot. Any mention of radiation is equated with permanent nuclear fallout, mutants, and desolate wasteland until the end of time.
Newsflash: none of the measurements made so far indicate any kind of lasting effect except in the plant itself. Food radiation levels are not "inedible", they're simply abstaining from precaution. Know the difference? Radioactive particles measured in air and ocean are miniscule especially when spread out over the Earth. I.e. no effect on human health whatsoever. So far NO ONE has died from the radiation at Fukushima, and it's unlikely any significant number will. The same could not be said of coal pollution.
India is building 9 nuclear power plants, as well as other developing countries like Turkey and Brazil for cheap, safe power. China is constructing 26 plants right now, the most in the world. Cleo is a know nothing sycophant spewing off about things he knows nothing about.

Protip: "Discussing the holocaust openly" is code for an attempt at legitimizing their denial. The historical facts were settled, are settled, and will remain settled. This is the same revisionist tactic pulled by people who wish to "Discuss Nanking" or "Discuss the Armenian genocide". Not going to fly.

Yeah, except anti-Semitism is far more prevalent in the Muslim world than anywhere else. Holocaust denial is practically lauded by Iran.
