Let's examine the sheer foolishness of this assertion for a moment.
Putting aside the question of whether Palin actually wrote a column, the assertion is that because Couric may or may not have seen it, she was supposed to assume that it was common knowledge to all of her viewers and so asking Palin the extremely simple question of "what kinds of things do you read?" was somehow an unimportant question.
The other false assumption here is that because a piece originating from Palin's camp made it into the New York Times, and Couric and others were supposed to assume that the Times was on Palin's regular reading list. In Game Change, the scenes within the McCain campaign when Couric asked Palin that question were funny and pathetic. Schmidt is saying, "Just name ONE paper..." When Palin fumbled out .. "All of them," the air was completely sucked out of the room.
Video of the highly-intelligent Fareed Zakaria is shown in the film, saying that the selection of Palin was unprecedented: Not only was this a candidate who didn't know the answers, but she did not even seem to understand the questions. He completely nailed it.

Palin is not here to defend herself, but many of the Palin-apologists and defenders sure are either ignorant or stupid and examples are not wanting.
Take this comment for instance: "The people (Schmidt, anyway) who ran the McCain campaign are now trying to shift blame to someone else, hoping that they'll get hired to run another campaign in the future. "
Of course, this is a complete and idiotic falsehood. First of all, Schmidt (and the dozens of other Republicans who worked on McCain's campaign who were interviewed during the production of Game Change) completely took the blame onto themselves. As they should have.
But I find it interesting that YOU think there is blame that Schmidt and the others would try to slough off. Blame for what? The rational answer is blame for putting someone as grossly unqualified and unprepared as Palin on the ticket -- a decision then-Vice President Cheney called "reckless." So when you claim that Schmidt is trying to shift the blame to "others" for completely blowing it when it came to selecting Palin, you are yourself admitting that Schmidt did exactly that: Blew it. Big time.
Schmidt, Nicolle Wallace, and the others who McCain picked to work on his campaign were loyal Republicans of integrity and professionalism. Your feeble attempt to impugn their motives is, quite frankly, laughably dumb, as indicated by your desperate ploy to bring completely irrelevant topics like Dan Rather and the Soviet Union in to cloud up the issue.

No. The truth is you cannot.
What few examples you can find are only because, like the Detroit News article, come as a result of audits done to ensure that examples of "fraud and graft" are few and far between.
Neither ABC nor the Detroit News indicates that the stimulus package was a "slush fund for the politically connected." Just another in a series of fabrications made up by someone living outside of America who has no regard for truth.

Remember those words when you get the chance to view it. The closely match the feelings of McCain's staff when the real Palin started to emerge.

The person touting "traditional America" doesn't even live here. It's obvious he has to cast many millions of Americans with legitimate concerns about the person Dick Cheney called a "reckless choice" in with the far left, because that's how he expresses his own seething and sociopathic hatred for them.

Steve Schmidt was Senator John McCain's campaign director.
Let's see: We have McCain's own campaign director saying it tells the truth of the campaign. What position do the morons who think Palin is qualified have to argue with him?
That's right, none.

Even more falsehood from people living in foreign countries about the United States' domestic policies.
The ABC report was from November 2009 and cited that errors in some of the statistics on the recovery site were believed to be "less than 1%" and would be corrected within a week. It's now March of 2012 and there haven't been any reports of errors with the recovery site for a very, very long time. There was nothing in the ABC report suggesting a "slush fund for the politically connected" -- an utter falsehood.

Cheney called Palin a reckless choice.
It is really up to Republicans to determine if Dick Cheney knew anything about the office of Vice-President. And just what Cheney's remarks have to say about the morons who actually thought Palin was qualified.

Touching moment when Nicolle Wallace -- the campaign staffer who worked with Palin most -- confessed to her colleagues that she just couldn't vote.
Bravo, HBO.

Nearly 15 minutes left in the showing on HBO and it's nothing less that terrific.
There is no doubt whatsoever that if the McCain folks could turn back the clock and do it over, they never would have chosen Palin. Never in a million years. Even Cheney called it a reckless decision.

The people who don't believe stimulus money went towards investments in education, etc., have been and are being lied to -- by folks who, like yourself, have an amoral aversion to the truth.
"Shovel-ready" is a semantic term, and becomes a canard when used by a liar. My home state of Georgia received over 5.3 billion for investments in education, infrastructure and transportation -- and Republican liars and critics of President Obama scrambled home for photo ops at ribbon-cuttings at all these very real projects -- which may or may not have been "shovel-ready." People living in foreign countries wouldn't know anything about that, but evidently that wouldn't prevent them from falsifying the picture.

My thoughts are of the totally clueless McCain wandering around the stage in his second debate with Senator Obama. Schmidt is a loyal American first, one who understands the complete debacle that a person as grossly unqualified and stupid as a next-in-line Palin would have been to the nation he loves more than his party.

Again, that is totally false and just plain dumb. What Limbaugh said was far worse.
Maher's words were vulgar descriptions of a part of the female anatomy. "Slut" and "prostitute" are descriptions that impugn a woman's character.
I don't know whether it's out of dumbness or dishonesty that you ignore the important fact that Maher expressed his comments about a well-known and powerful public figure while Limbaugh chose to attack the very character of an ordinary, unknown young woman. No, what Rush did is far, far worse and what right-wing idiots try to do is continue to bring up Maher's vulgarities in an attempt to shield their beloved conservative icon.
As for Palin, she asserted to a national audience that the only difference between her and a dog of a particular breed was lipstick. Now, nearly everyone knows the technical term for a female canine. (I do think Maher called it right on that woman.)

Any honest American who honors his country as well as the highest office in the land would be able to find nearly all the details of stimulus package spending at www.recovery.gov
The vast percentage of the stimulus spending went to investments in education, transportation and infrastructure. Someone who spends as much time and effort as you do praying for your country, its president, and its people to fail will not be persuaded by any of the data there in the least. You'll continue to spout the far right-wing diatribe that a bet made on the American people will bankrupt the country. We know how deeply disappointed you are that the US automakers have returned to profitability and that the manufacturing sector is increasing employment and bringing thousands of new jobs back from overseas.
Just because you know too well that a government dollar directed your way is completely wasted doesn't mean that it is that way for millions of decent Americans working hard for the success of our nation.

It's a stupid and pointless comparison. The Republican Congress in 1995 made Limbaugh an "honorary member," widely acknowledging his powerful influence on conservative voters. Has any Democrat bestowed or even suggested bestowing any such mantle on Maher or Letterman?
More than one GOP Congressperson has had to bow and scrape before Limbaugh -- the way a stray priest might have to bow before a cardinal -- when they've run afoul of him. (Example: Phil Gingrey (GA) in Jan 2009 publicly begging the drug-addled Rush's forgiveness for speaking off the page.) Got any examples of any Democratic representatives prostrating themselves before Maher or Letterman? (That's right; you can't come up with even one, can you?)
Your point is false as it regards Maher. He has no sponsors. HBO carries his show commercial-free. That means he's perfectly free to call Palin whatever he genuinely thinks of her. Of course, this is where the comparison of Rush to Maher really gets stupid. Palin is a powerful public figure well able to defend herself. Who did the almighty Rush choose to pick on? Some unknown young woman called to give her views before Congress.
Sorry, not going to join you in that mental gutter.

It is amazing to see how some people hate and dishonor the United States so much that they actually believe that our government channeling money into investments in infrastructure and education are not going to pay off -- presumably because these folks, who hate anything smelling of success by a president with a (D) by his name, really feel that the American people are a bad bet.
But I do understand it. After all, some of these folks who are so down on the American people and their president receive government checks every month, which is just like Uncle Sam flushing money down the toilet.
