Isn't TEPCO just going to pay off the government for their votes? TEPCO keeps getting paid and now the government gets paid more?

"I'm not a parent yet, but is it really that hard to know where your kids are when you start operating potentially dangerous equipment"

No. I don't think so. I've been through three kids in Japan. When the kids were young, I wouldn't even GET in the car with the kids around. Even now, I won't get in the car if the DOG is outside or not in the car with me. There is no excuse. Yet another stupid parent.

Laguna, "global crises do not pause to wait for America's full economic recovery" I agree wholly however when you look at 1) the number of people jobless in America, $3B from corporations goes a long way to start new manufacturing bases and processes in the US. 2) The number of people/countries who consistently complain about America getting involved in other countries affairs is overwhelming. How do we then choose which meddling is good or bad? Are we all so simple as to think that this wondrous $3B will not come with strings attached? Even under the Obama administration? I think not.

Yep another 3B goes out of the country while 88 million Americans are out of work and waiting for more tax increases. Can't refill the unemployment coffers with that money, eh? Thanks Mr. President! We're glad you care (about everyone else)!

It was a great idea for a plane that turned out very badly. The whole program needs to be scrapped before more money is spent. "Joint aircraft" programs do not work due to all of the in-fighting and wrangling between services.

"He added that the utility expected industry to accept rate hikes, while residential rates are also set to rise, as the economy picks up pace."

When exactly is the economy going to pick up? The Consumption tax is going up, the residential rates are going up, and the prices of goods and services will go up by at least the amount that TEPCO increases the industry rates...

    Brilliant!

Sorry there Madverts...Cannot give it a rest as nobody else does. All I can pray for (OMG, religion again) is that Obama loses and everything he's done to harm America is turned around. I will state honestly that I don't believe in everything Romney stands for (which none of you Obama fawners will state) but I will support him all the way.

The audience of the moment...unlike Obama who "evolved" overnight and found himself supporting same sex marriages...LMAO...you make it sound like there is a difference between any presidential candidate.

Good on Romney. Same stance as always. Same stance Obama had last week until he needed votes.

Sushi: How exactly does one "Encourage ignorance, class warfare and bigotry by voting against gay marriage"? That's quite a leap there my friend!

@closet queen RRU "mmmm: what an absurd comment" Not absurd at all. I laugh at all of the diatribes against the stance that some in the US hold on gay rights but say nothing at all about their own country. Take Japan for instance. Plenty of gay and transsexual people on the telly on various shows. You would think Japan would be one of the ten countries on that list. However all of the people I have ever talked with have stated emphatically that they would never support same sex marriage in this country. Do a poll here and you will probably get an overwhelming negative response. Why the bash on the USA only?

Why is this a US only issue? There are only about ten countries in the world that support gay marriage. I can almost guarantee that NONE of you live in one of them.. You are all hypocrites.

Can anyone please explain why the Japanese government complains about low consumption of goods in Japan but then wants to raise the consumption tax? Does that make any sense to anyone out there? If it does, please educate me...

tknoid. I am not kidding myself nor anyone else. During the first two years, his most popular time in office, your faithful Obama, with BOTH the Senate and Congressional majorities could not pass any legislation that he wanted. Even they did not agree with him. Even Obamacare was passed illegally in the middle of the night. If this president was half the leader that you thought he was, he would be able to swing many of the Republican votes his way and get on with it but he is not willing nor capable of that kind of leadership. Why? I honestly have no idea. He certainly seemed like he could. However, he has proven time and again that he is a weak leader. I agree that no party in America has the best interests of the working class, however anyone that can get the Congress and Senate to work together will be the best for America now and in the future. And it ain't Obama.
