Look at a map guys! It's simple. How big is Israel? How many people live there? is it a democracy?
Now look at all the land owned by Muslim countries, how many people live there, and look at the type of govts and freedoms they have, and also count the number of times leaders say idiotic hateful things against Israel, and how many times mindless mobs get together to shout death to Israel etc. Do you think it's fun living around people who want you wiped off the face of the earth and think the holocaust was a lie and 9/11 was an inside job. It's insanity.
It's very simple. Israel is a light shining in the midst of darkness. Shalom.

@Miyagidad. Like the others said - no shame in that. Sounds like you have gone beyond the call of duty. otsukaresama

Hey Miyagidad, I read your post, then clicked on your name and read every post back to July. (Were their ones before that?)
Good luck to you and your family. You obviously loved Japan and invested your life and heart here, so it's Japan's loss. Just a thought, but maybe you could write a book, or at least write some articles in some kind of media when you settle into your new home. I'm sure people would be interested, and might do some good some how.
Take care.
But, how about Okinawa? Japan needs good people man.

Oh, same with Cleo. My dad came here, got a rail pass and travelled all over the place. He thinks the Japanese are the friendliest, kindest people on earth.
If an old japanese guy went traveling in most of our countries we'd have to give them a "be careful of this, and don't do that" lesson.

Okay, I'll offend the people who bash Japan here.
I've never had a bad experience with police in 20 years. Once I was asked to show an ID card, but that was very politely. I like the idea of an ID card. Doesn't bother me in the slightest, in fact it's handy if you don't have a driver's license. People treat me nicely. Never had anyone yell at me. I've been stared at - but hey, I've been in Japan so long that I stare at gaijin and wonder what they do here. People stare at my kids who are haafu (and I don't mind). My wife sees other families with haafu kids and wonders what their story is too.
I'm terrible with kanji -yeah, it's terrible (but I can hardly write English), and nobody complains if I write stuff in romaji. (Yeah, it's lame - I should be better.) But nobody complains. This country is great to foreigners!!
As for speaking Japanese and people answering in English or changing ....well, that hardly ever happens, and when it does it's just funny. But here's the thing. Most people speak to me assuming I speak Japanese. And don't bat an eyelid. But, in my first few years, people spoke back to me in English and it annoyed me because I thought I was good at Japanese.
but.....I wasn't as good as I thought I was lol So, maybe sometimes when you have been here for just a little while, the words you use are either wrong, unnatural, or your accent is all over the place that you may as well be wearing a banana suit.
I've met foreigners who think they are great at Japanese because they know a lot of words, but the way they talk is just so unnatural - their intonation, but also the content of what they say.
So, give it a few years, get better and better, and if in the meantime you have to put up with people staring, or kids saying hello, or people asking where you come from, just remember it's better than a punch in the head, or a knife in the back.
Kind of amazed that with all the problems there are in Japan at the moment, there is still an article like this.
Japanese are okay. And they have a lot of things to worry about now, so give them a break.

@Tigermoth, you just expressed my sentiments exactly. It'd be great if just walking away worked.
We need the best brains in the world to get in a room and sort this out. It's just a matter of time, (imagine 20, 30, 50 years from now) and more and more countries will have the technology. Then it will be cashed up cults.

Just go look at a map of the Middle East. Then you'll understand Israel's position.

People seem to think that if Israel has nukes, Iran and everyone else has the moral right to have them. I would agree if we were talking about libraries and drinking water. But this is different. Israel doesn't want Iran wiped off the face of the earth, they just want them to leave them alone. Iran on the other hand is different.

Unless you are honest, and the woman doesn't want to have kids, or loves you so much they are willing to take the chance that a reversal wouldn't be successful. As for slim chances - there are millions of single women in Japan. There's got to be a few that would marry a guy with a vasectomy.
But could you marry a 22yr old, say you really want kids one day, when you don't? They could probably sue you for that.
If it's just sex you want, then just tell people you've had a vasectomy, never want to get married or have kids and just want to be free. Plenty of women want to date someone like that.

Now that is the most astounding piece of relationship advice I've heard in a long time. I'll assume it was a joke.
Aids, massive debt, vasectomy, sex change etc - I think those things are pretty much in the full disclosure category. Or if you don't fess up, you can't really complain out the outcome later. And if you don't come clean with that, maybe you would make a great next CEO of Tepco.

Just hope there isn't any risk of damaged sperm with this method.
@Mabo, girlfriends and wives are totally different creatures esp when it comes to sex.
I think vasectomies are great if you are totally certain that you don't want to make kids, but as for being painless....
But it's no doubt a walk in the park compared with childbirth, so some guys should just man up and grit their teeth! Just a shame though. For an ugly guy I make such beautiful kids!

And the other irony is that these same Japanese women assume that Jguys could never be happy marrying western women.

Nicky, That's funny. I'm in the same boat with singles so much so that I've thought about starting a small matchmaking service! But it's the girls who are so picky.
Also, you must be a strong person to not let anything silly happen with old Mr Perfect. Sounds like not the person to talk about the latest fight over drinks. (Not trying to play big brother here)

Nicky, I guess it looked like that. :)
Wasn't said in anger. Just that the longer I live here the longer I feel sorry for J guys. And I just had drinks with a nice guy Japanese guy who I think would make a great bf/husband who is clueless about women. And speaking as a guy, I know how guys talk, and think women have no idea about who is a good catch or not.
But, point taken. Too much raving.

And if that sounds bad ....that's what men who aren't nice are like. Women may not want to hear it - but, remember many women said that want a MAN. The guys who swept you off your feet like the Chinese man, probably laughed to his friends about how many he swept off their feet.
"Being a man does not mean thumping your chest (or anyone elses) and acting like a jerk. But it does mean calmly taking control of a situation and handling things"
Women always love explaining what a real man is. But watch the sparks fly if a man talks about what a what a real woman is".
the girl will like the Chinese guy who was so manly, and who took charge. Until of course, he takes charge in an area she isn't happy about. then they fight, he leaves, picks up another girl within a week with his manly ways, and then she talks about how all men are pigs. And probably cries to the "nice guy".
so, doesn't seem like there is much reason for men to be nice guys. Which is why every man and his dog are having fun, and women can't get a decent guy.
Having said that, adios amigos. :)
btw, poor Japanese guys. They get beat up, criticized, lampooned all the time. The Waseda guy will get married eventually, and then his misery will really start. His wife won't want him to be a take charge guy then.
