“This bill is the greatest threat to freedom that I have seen,” House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, told the crowd.

Says one of the men who voted for the Patriot Act. I think their strategy here is to throw enough stupidity, fear and noise out there that people just get confused by it all.

The problem here is it's all etiquette but no courtesy. It's all about doing certain things in certain situations, fulfilling obligations. If it's not pre-programmed it's just not done.

I'm surprised the article focused on young people though because generally they're far more likely to show courtesy than the older generation.

And it's a shame, too, because it actually feels really good even doing a small thing for someone else, like holding the door or giving a seat up to someone who needs it more, and these people are missing out on that.

How can private insurers compete with an entity that doesn't have to make a profit?

The same way the Japanese insurers do, I'd guess.

The taskbar — the strip of icons usually found at the bottom of the screen — now does more than show which programs are running. You can also stick icons for your favorite programs on it, to launch them quickly. It’s fast and convenient, combining the best features of the old Windows taskbar and Apple’s Dock.

Um, isn't this the quick-launch bar, like in Windows XP? I'm looking at it right now in fact, I launched this browser from it. On XP. Surely something's missing here...?

Many of my female friends have been harassed by their male coworkers, mostly at drinking parties. One told me her boss had asked her if she likes rough sex or soft sex. Another had to choose who she would sleep with in her team if she had to.

This has nothing to do with openness and everything to do with sexual and emotional immaturity. Most people get over this in high school.

I saw a T-shirt collection in the World Porters with "Beatifle Means Glad It Viewy" across the front. I don't even know where to start with that.

Tokyokawasaki, cool to see someone else uses "Jinglish" rather than Engrish. I thought I was the only one....

When iPhones can hold 80GB I'll stop using my iPod for music, but 16 or 32Gb just isn't enough right now. I use the iPhone for podcasts though, since the notes are much better.

Nope, it's 'recovery' funded by excessive borrowing, so not a recovery at all, just more air in the bubble.
