NHK’s long-running New Year’s Eve musical show, “Kohaku Uta Gassen,” will this year again be hosted by SMAP member Masahiro Nakai, 37, and actress Yukie Nakama, 30. The “Naka-Naka combo” debuted on the 57th annual program in 2006. Nakai has hosted the show five times in total, more than anyone aside from NHK announcers, while this will be Nakama’s fourth outing.

Nakai pledged to give his all in supporting the country’s best singers, while Nakama confessed that, “I’m a little nervous, but happy to know I’ll be hosting the show with a Kohaku veteran again.”

This year marks the program’s 60th anniversary.
