Nissan Motor Co said Tuesday that its profit jumped 95% in the fiscal fourth quarter on healthy overseas sales. The automaker said its January-March profit rose to 137.6 billion yen from 82.2 billion yen in the same period the previous year. Sales in the quarter rose 5.9% from a year ago to 2.99 trillion yen, according to Nissan.

Nissan, which has an alliance with Renault SA of France, sold 1.06 million vehicles around the world in the quarter, an increase of 7.8% from the previous year.
