Police in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, have arrested a 58-year-old man on suspicion of murder after his flatmate was found dead.

According to police, the suspect, identified as Takashi Iwamoto, turned up at a nearby "koban" (police box) just before 11 p.m. Tuesday and said he had done something bad, Fuji TV reported. Police went to his apartment and found the body of Yoshinobu Okane, 50, lying on a futon and bleeding from his head and back. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police on Wednesday morning charged Iwamoto with murder. Iwamoto so far has given no motive for the crime, police said.

too little information, I wonder what evidence they have where they're not ruling it as a possible accident, negligent homicide or something similar?

He gave himself up, confessed that a fight went out of hand, type and location of injuries would match his statement.
