A chief clerk in the Saitama local government has been arrested for trespassing after a high school girl reported that he had been stalking her.
According to police, Hideyuki Miyazawa, 43, was arrested on Sept 24 after he was seen trespassing on the premises of an apartment block in which the girl lived, TBS reported Thursday. Police said the victim had sought consultation with them after she realized that a man she did not know had been following her for several months. Miyazawa was arrested at the scene after he could not account for his presence in the apartment building.
During police questioning, Miyazawa was quoted by police as saying, "I was there because I wanted to catch a glimpse of a girl I liked."

Crazy sicko!

At least this girl was better served than the one that died from a similar loony.

Bustard.

I'm glad he was caught, and that shes now safe. shes one of the lucky ones.

It's good they caught him. Stalking is like drugs, it escalates over time. The buzz wears off and you take it further for more stimulation.

great job by the j-cops once again. i just hope this weirdo has learned his lesson and that it doesn't escalate further.

Civil Servant from Saitama. Two strikes already.

and
@Heza! and TrevorPeace1--Nonsense. Most stalkers do not become killers. This is a typical case, not the exception. The murdering stalker does NOT define stalking in general and attempting to do so is paranoia. Quite a typical brand of paranoia mind you, but still paranoia with no grounds in fact or reality.
And not to remotely defend stalking, but it is what it is and treating each one like attempted murder will only make things worse in the end, as the misconceptions of paranoia always do. There is zero indication that he intended to do any more than he said he intended, which is just to get a glimpse of her. Bad enough without inflating it into something it isn't.

OK, so even assuming that stalking isn't a gateway crime to more outrageous behavior, stalking is still a crime and I'm glad the creep was arrested. It would appear that the J-cops have learned something and are now going to arrest stalkers. That is good in and of itself. And early apprehension of stalkers could very well save some women's lives. Not every stalker is just a harmless leach.

The problem is that the stalker's intentions remain unknown until he's caught, whether he's found where he shouldn't be, or being arrested after a murder.
CrisGerSan
Sorry but MANY stalkers DO become murderers and worse. The facts are clear and are fact. Thank goodness that this lucky girl was saved and I am sure the example of the sad young girl who died just recently from a similar cause gave the Police the courage to take immediate action. Thank goodness she did not die in vain. There is Zero tolerance for stalking and it must be enacted everywhere to stop it.

CrisGer San is right. Stalkers graduate stalkings, becoming many sex related offenders, graduate to rapists.
Disillusioned
A 43 year old with an unhealthy infatuation with a high school girl? In most other countries this would be surprising, but not in AKB land. It's normal!
ControlFreak
@JohnBecker--Neither are a spouse's intentions known until they kill or try to. Most people are killed by their spouses. Honestly I would not be surprised to find that more people are killed by random strangers than stalkers. Stalkers are creepy and scary and stalking is illegal for good reason, but acting like murder is commonly on stalker's minds is sensationalism and paranoia. Its not helpful.

When does stalking and infatuated interest become differentiated? Is it abnormal to see someone you like and search for a way to meet them concidering you are both young? Direct contact would of course be the best method.

Jack, maybe this 40 something year old dude is MARRIED and my guess direct contact would be a bit too dangerous, you know Japanese wives etc..do not like their hubbies to be caught in public messing around with high school girls and getting arrested, having to pay lots of money for legal fees etc..
