Woman found stabbed to death; suspect jumps from building roof

Police in Hachioji, Tokyo, said Wednesday that a man suspected of fatally stabbing a 35-year-old woman at her home, apparently jumped to his death from the building roof.

According to police, the body of Akiko Tsubokawa was found lying face up on a sofa in her apartment at around 2 p.m. on Tuesday. A short time later, the body of Tsubokawa's 40-year-old boyfriend was found in shrubbery outside the apartment block, TBS reported.

Police said Tsubokawa's neck had been slashed, and that a knife with a 20-centimeter-long blade was found covered in blood near the sofa.

Police believe Tsubokawa's boyfriend killed her and then jumped to his death from the building roof.

Why doesn't every killer do this?

I LOVE a " Happy Ending " .

There's a difference between someone who killed someone and then committed suicide, and someone who wanted to commit suicide and then decided to kill someone in the process. You can't assume that he killed himself from guilt, the suicide may have been the ulterior motive

Puts Sherlock Holmes hat on ... The boyfriend was jealous, took a knife, killed her, then, realizing what he has done, dropped the knife and jumped from the roof. Case solved!

Hey! Hang on! Yeah, the perp is dead, but so is the innocent woman. There's nothing to celebrate here!

Gotta have that once-a-year stabbing death in my hometown Hachioji.

Exactly. The circumstances do not justify elation. Two people are now dead who didn't have to die.

It was her son (high school student) who first notified police after finding her mother lying in blood. I hope he gets through this.
