I will never understand ANYONE who thinks that any piece of machinery can have it's safety guaranteed.
Be for real, there are acceptable levels of "safety" and while plane crashes are dramatic, more people die in Yamaguchi, per year, in automobile accidents than have died in all the Osprey crashes combined.
Has the Gov. asked the Government or auto industry to guarantee all cars safety? (Rhetorical question folks!)

The USA will deploy and fly these aircraft without regard to what the local people want. After all why should they care about Japanese feelings?
